Maintaining a Safe Backup

Things you need to download as a backup are the following folders:

/Members
/Boards
/Messages
/Variables
/Templates (only if you have your own custom template)
/Languages (only if you have a non english board with custom translations)
/Attachments (only if you allow attachments)

apart from that the file Paths.pl in the YaBB root could be handy as a backup.

The rest of the files (scripts and stuff) are standard files coming from the zip and never change.

Of course if you have installed mods you also need to download the folders

/Sources (for mods installed in the frontend)
/Admin (for mods installed in the backend)
yabbfiles/ModImages/*
yabbfiles/Button/English  (for any custom buttons)

and the yabbc or ubbc javascripts (if changed.)

The above can be handled if a Server Backup is made of the entire site.  Usually available in your Host Server Panel (e.g. cPanel)
