Adding a New Template to YaBB 2.4

In previous versions, you were able to use a .cfg file that would autoload your template configuration.  This feature does not work in version 2.4 without first adding this MOD to your forum.

But fear not!  You can always do this the manual way, and it is not that difficult.  For this example I will use the name newtemplate as the name of your template.  Here is how to do it step-by-step:

Uploading files:
1. Upload the newtemplate.css file (using ASCII transfer mode) to your public_html/yabbfiles/Templates/Forum folder.  Set file permission to 666 or 644, whichever works for your server.
2. Upload the newtemplate folder and the graphic files inside it (using Binary transfer mode) to your public_html/yabbfiles/Templates/Forum folder.  Set file permission to 755 or whichever works for your server.
3. If your new template has a HTML file or any .template files associated with it, you will need to upload them (using ASCII mode) to your cgi-bin/yabb2/Templates/newtemplate folder.  Set file permission to 666 or 644, whichever works for your server.

* * So far this is the same thing you have to do even if you use a .cfg file * *

Setting up for use:
1. Go to the Admin Center/Forum Layout/Template Configuration screen.
2. In the Configuration box, select the following:
Style Sheet: newtemplate
Images, Header, Board Index, Message Index, Posts, and User CP set to newtemplate if there is a specific file for that template to use, otherwise select default in the pull-down menus.
3. In the "Save As" section, type "newtemplate" (without quotes) in the input box and click the Save button.

That's it!  Your new template can now be selected for use in the Profile/Options page.

If you want to set it as the forum's default template, you can do that in Admin Center/Forum Settings.  Be aware that this setting only effects Guests and Member who are logged out.  It does not effect existing members who already have a choice of template set in their profiles.
