Still looking for a converter to convert a Yahoo Newsgroup to Yabb2.  Both messages and Users (but mostly messages).

That's strictly a web-based thing, isn't it? Would require some kind of spidering/parsing of the pages.

Please don't PM me for support - I'll only go and ignore it!

I would also be interested in a way to import my Yahoo group message archive into YaBB.

I found the following info which may be relevant -- but I'm not a programmer so pardon my ignorance....

http://fudforum.org/forum/index.php?=&start=0&t=msg&th=3252

http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DISC/Importing+a+Yahoo+Group
and this seems promising:

http://www.tt-solutions.com/en/products/yahoo2mbox/

Quote:
yahoo2mbox is a small Perl script which retrieves all messages from a mailing list archive at Yahoo! Groups (there is a missing copyright sign somewhere here probably) and stores them into a local file in MBOX format which is recognized by all Unix mail readers and good many of other ones.

If you don't know what Yahoo! Groups are, you probably don't need this program. But if you want to search through the existing archive using your favourite MUA instead of Yahoo interface as I did you might like it.

The latest version is 0.23 and must be used since June 2006 as the earlier versions don't work any longer due to changes to Yahoo Groups pages.

Other interesting features include support for localized and age-restricted Yahoo groups. Unfortunately, automatic address unmangling doesn't work any more (as of December 2003 and probably before) because of a change in Yahoo address presentation algorithm.

So if anyone can make anything out of this it would be great -- there are hundreds of unhappy Yahoo list owners who want out.... including me (well I'm already on my way out Smiley )
