At present there is No existing Arabic lanquage pack.  We need someone to translate an existing pack that is available to the Arabic lanquage.

-Download the YaBB 2.1, if able to translate English,( if another is needed, download that language pack also).
- The English lanquage files (or one understood and able to read) are in the 3 folders (for example cgi-bin/yabb2/Help/English, cgi-bin/yabb2/Languages/English, public_html/yabbfiles/Buttons/English)
- Rename all "English" folders to the proper name for your language (i.e. Norwegian = Norsk, Spanish = Espanol)
-Translate all *.help, *.lng, *.txt files (do not change file names or anything with a $ in front of e.g. $num_message ).
- Translate all graphics (buttons) into new buttons, if you can, if you are unable to create and design buttons, just supply the Translated wording for each button (Provide a list e.g. English = Arabic)
- Save the translated files (keeping directory structure of translated files) package with the language and version it is intended for (i.e. "Spanish_YaBB_2.1")
- Reply to this Topic with a notice that you have created a new pack and attach a Zip pack containing the files.

Re: Arabic
To edit language files, you should use a code editor like Notepad ++ (which can be downloaded here :  http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/site.htm ) or any text editor (turning off word wrap).
Open the lng and txt files inside the editor and replace eg.

admin.lng
Code Select All
$englishlngver = 'YaBB 2.1 $Revision: 1.6 $';

$yycharset = "ISO-8859-1";

@days = ('Sunday','Monday','Tuesday','Wednesday','Thursday','Friday','Saturday');
@months = ('Jan','Feb','Mar','Apr','May','Jun','Jul','Aug','Sep','Oct','Nov','Dec');

%admin_txt = (
'1' => "You are not allowed to access this section.",
'2' => "in",
'3' => "Add/Edit Categories",
'4' => "Keep stickies?",
'5' => "You must select something to Edit or Remove. Please Try again.",
'6' => "Email Your Members",
'7' => "Edit YaBB News",

Thru each file, replacing ....

Re: Arabic
Language group Character sets
Arabic:   cp864, ISO-8859-6, MacArabic, windows-1256

Here are instructions for the most popular browsers:

Internet Explorer 6.x

Click the View menu.
Select Encoding.
Select the appropriate language or character set.
FireFox 1.x

Click the View menu.
Select Character Encoding.
Select the appropriate language or character set.
Safari 2.x

Click the View menu.
Select Encoding.
Select the appropriate language or character set.
You may need to restore the original character encoding setting to view other web sites properly. If you’re viewing a message with mixed encoding, unfortunately only one character encoding set may be viewed at a time.

In a web page:

Unicode (Any Language)
The encoding meta tag is placed in the header. The encoding tage (e.g. utf-8 for Unicode) is declared after charset= specification at the end of the tag.

Code Select All
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8">
...
</head>

Code Select All
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1256">
<meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="ar-sy>" >

Should be content="ar-sy">

Why did you change from the utf-8 ?

 I just visited your site again... Arabic characters are being displayed, without my changing the browser encoding.....  Did you refresh your browser, so your not viewing a cached page ?
 You presently have a lot of english words, but every instance of Arabic displays correctly. Yes ?

Re: Arabic
Hmm, your web-server also should specify proper value in page headers, so, if You are using apache, specify in YaBB's dir's .htaccess 'AddDefaultCharset windows-1256', maybe, this helps...
Edited:
P.S. I see, that You modified template around beginning meta tags. Are You specified encoding directly in template? You should not do that. Just specify your encoding in language pack, in variable $yycharset at the beginning of Main.lng and Admin.lng. Then YaBB will substitute '<yabb charset>' with proper value.

P.S. Sorry, my English is not so good, as I wish

Thanks Mishdan.. for your input.

We hope you upload and attach the translated lanquage pack, after you have tested and feel it is complete, to benefit others who wish to use the Arabic language.
