At the moment, it doesnt do anything other than login/registration.

The bridge is purely a modification to both programs systems, so no extra files for now. The 'bridge' uses each respective system for storing members.

As for translation, because the systems simply pass details to each other, they use their own language files...

...by no means is this a complete solution, but it does work. Again, as for being secure etc, no idea!

We'll have to wait and see ...  Smiley For the moment, as I understand, it seems that it only uses Joomla! registration.

In one of my sites, I am using Joomla! 1.013 + SMF. The bridge allows me to choose what registration system I prefer to use, Joomla!'s own or SMF.
So, I deduce that this new bridge could, hypothetically, use a similar approach?

James, are you coding in PHP or in Perl? And, will the bridge use Joomla!'s database to store members' details?
I am not a developer or a programmer, but just curious. What I COULD do is translate your bridge into Spanish if you wished.

Just had another thought  Roll Eyes You know how we use the spam block on yabb to stop certain domain email address' registering on the forum, will that automatically stop them registering on joomla ?

Or vice versa

Ah right, ok cheers.

Must admit the SEF urls confuse me a bit. Im using SOBI2 on one site n scared to turn SEF url on in case I have to turn them off again for whatever reason and then have 300 urls to manually alter  Roll Eyes

Also got the jv-linksexchanger running on both sites n the sef url hasnt really shorted the links page urls at all

Joomla!1.5 is not totally stable yet. The latest is, I believe, a Release Candidate 4.
But I honestly believe there is still some work to be done with the core SEF, because many people are finding it buggy. If this problem is not solved by the developers, many plugins and components will have problems. So, from that point of view, it would be safer to work with the 1.0.x series.

On the other hand, Joomla! 1.5 is "the future" and a very promising product.

Cheers,

Yes, 1.0.13 is the latest stable release.  There is a 1.0.14 RC1 available for testing, and a 1.0.14 Stable is expected from it soon.

1.0.14 will be a security update.

Yabb was my first love, and Joomla! my latest. It would be great to have them both  Wink
