Re: [ALPHA] YaBB 2.2 - Joomla! Integration
I would like to know how this works out.

I would also like to see  a module that lists or shows parts of the last few posts from the forum into a section. Linkable of course so if a visitor is curious to read the whole thread or ppost, he may just click on the article header or a read more link.

Hello James

Add me to the list of people wanting this bridge. I too am a programmer and can help with this project should you need it, just send me a PM...  Cool

This project progress has stopped, do to the programmer having other responsibilities at work/home.

If someone would like to consider attempting to complete this bridge, we would appreciate the effort and post the bridge on our YaBB Codex for all users interested in using.

Just as CJ said... there are quite a few YaBB'ers that would love to see a Joomla/YaBB integration bridge.

I know I would! Wink

Re: [ALPHA] YaBB 2.2 - Joomla! Integration
Wondering what has been done so far if anything.
I recently added Joomla to my site for the main page to link to my YaBB forum. I am not using Joomla to maintain a user base currently. One thing I see that may be an issue is that YaBB is not using MySql so converting the member base would be difficult. When YaBB 3 comes out it may be easier.
Joomla does have a feature that works well with YaBB and that is the ability to ad module feeds or site feeds. I plugged in a couple of my RSS feeds from my YaBB forum and it works well.
Having a bit of trouble creating a login bridge tried using the HTML module and using the HTML bridge I have used before on wordpress to make a widget but it doesnt want to work.
Maybe the PHP bridge that Captain John posted on another thread will work will have to try it out.

Joomla integration with YaBB could be a huge feature, I would be happy to test any code on my site if anyone is working on this.

Re: [ALPHA] YaBB 2.2 - Joomla! Integration
Things you Can do with Joomla and YaBB already that does not require a bridge:

1.) You can use the RSS links from YaBB to add to the Joomla feed links in Joomla Menu settings. This allows you to put seperate pages or modules up on the Joomla side with post from your YaBB forum. This really works well.

2.) I was able to place a login to YaBB module on the Joomla frontpage. To do this you will need to use the Joomla Extension called "Sourcerer" ( it is free.) http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/edition/custom-code-in-content/5051 It allows you to use pretty much any code in a module. Then use the HTML for a YaBB login Captain John posted on this thread http://www.yabbforum.com/community/YaBB.pl?num=1199827066
Works like a charm.
While this login only logs the user into YABB and not to any other part of your Joomla it makes it easier for visitors to access the forums instead of clicking a link.
