Display Multimedia Attachments in Post
Just as images uploaded as attachments may be displayed in-line, it would be nice if there were an administrator's option to enable in-line display of attached audio and video files (all the file formats supported by the "media" tags).

Re: Display Multimedia Attachments in Post
Do I understand you right? You want to upload media files and want them to be shown the same way they are with the media-tag in posts, but then in the attachments place. So, like attached images are shown if "Display Picture Attachments in Posts?" is enabled by the Admin.
Right?

That's how I interpret it, too.  The problem with this is that you have to make use of the <embed> tag, which means you also need to know the correct mime-type.  Not horrible, but not foolproof, either.

deti,

Sorry for the late reply! Yes, this is what I was suggesting. However, your question gave me an idea. It would be great if attached images, audio, or video could be displayed within the text of a post. For example, if a user could insert code like "[displayattachment]Attachment 1[/displayattachment]" to display an attachment anywhere in a post, and not just at the end.

Why not copy attachment link in a media tag?

Code Select All

As xnoddyx indicated, YaBB doesn't make it easy to know what the link to an attachment is. Not only may the names of attachments be changed (and not just changes to avoid duplicate file names, but also with spaces being replaced by underscores: "My Great Movie.avi" becomes "My_Great_Movie.avi"), but as things now stand (with v.2.4), links to attachments are rendered through JavaScript which conceals the attachment's URL. So a poster who isn't very familiar with YaBB's inner workings may not be able to figure out the proper hyperlinks.
