CGI Error - HTTP Errors
Hello,

I have installed a fresh copy of Yabb 2.4 on a NEW host.

I have inquired and received the corrrect shebang line and changed the appropriate files although not sure if that was necessary since it is a Windows server.

I am getting an error when I am trying to access the Admin|Advanced page.

I've searched this forum with out finding a solution and cannot track it down.  Any help would REALLY be appreciated.

My information is as follows...

Thanks Much!

-Greg

Re: CGI Error - HTTP Errors
You are right that shebang line doesn't matter in YOUR case as you are on IIS, but for Apache on Windows it does.

Take a look at this page.

http://www.newnetenterprises.com/merchants/web_tutorials/iis6_yabb.htm

Are you saying that the Admin Center works except the "Advanced Options"?

Can you post to the forum OK?

Re: CGI Error - HTTP Errors
Just for grins try reloading the Admin folder with an FTP client, making sure the transfer mode is ACSII/Text.

Re: CGI Error - HTTP Errors
Hey,

Yes.  The Admin Center works with the exception of Advanced Options.

It seems all other forum functions are fine.  The only exception is the forum is not emailing which I think is set up under Advanced Options.

Just reuploaded the Admin Folder in ASCII mode.  No luck.

Re: CGI Error - HTTP Errors
JonB,

Thanks for the earlier suggestions and the link.

I changed permissions in plesk as you IIS instructions show.

No Luck.

I then went and changed my entire cgi-bin/yabb2 folder and all its child content to read/write/modify thinking I may have missed something.

No Luck!

Is there any benefit to rerunning setup.pl or will that mess up my board?

Thanks!

Re: CGI Error - HTTP Errors
is it still only the Advanced Options Page?

If you would like, you can PM me Plesk logon info + forum admin info and I will take a look tonight or early in the AM tomorrow.

Thanks & Good Luck

Re: CGI Error - HTTP Errors
Hi TickToo

Did you upgrade at the same time you transferred hosts?

You may have told me, but I'm pretty toast right now, LOL.

thanks
Wink

Edited:
I also just ran a detailed version check and you have the same
Settings_Advanced.pl        YaBB 2.4 Build 1.17.2.1 as my working forums.

Re: CGI Error - HTTP Errors
Hi JonB,

I have been using YaBB for about 6 or 7 years.

This most recent version was installed in a new directory and then after the install, I copied over the folders from the old install per the instructions.

Re: CGI Error - HTTP Errors
Hi,
I installed vs 2.4 yesterday and have the same problem. Everything works fine, except for the advanced settings in forum config, which throws the CGI error. I have been running Gold vs 1.3.1 for ever and vs 2.4 has been installed as a NEW install.

I looked at 'settings_advanced.pl' and somewhere in the script it wants to save to 'settings.pl', which does not exist in vs 2.4 (although present in gold 1.3.1)

the script is on my own server
windows 2003 SBS
and is the only script giving me grief right now.

Any ideas?
thanks

Re: CGI Error - HTTP Errors
At the moment, its a mystery as it works perfectly on my W2K3/IIS6 server.

Still working on it.

How did you copy on the files?

thanks

Good Luck

Re: CGI Error - HTTP Errors
Both problem installs:

Please check and see if 'advsettings.txt' still exists in the Variables folder.

TickToo, what version did you upgrade from?  If a 2.x version, did you follow this procedure in the Quick Guide?

Quote:
cgi-bin/yabb2/Variables/* all files EXCEPT the following files:

    * Menu0.def, Menu1.def, Menu2.def
    * *.helporder (all files with this extension. Note: Your version may not contain these files.)
    * advsettings.txt
    * secsettings.txt
    * Settings.pl

Now copy the following files to a separate folder and rename them as it is shown here:

    * advsettings.txt => upgrade_advsettings.txt
    * secsettings.txt => upgrade_secsettings.txt
    * Settings.pl => upgrade_Settings.pl

then move the renamed files into cgi-bin/yabb2/Variables/ of your new forum.

This only detective work at this point..

Re: CGI Error - HTTP Errors
Hi JonB,

I definitely used the Quick Guide, however its been weeks and cannot be certain that I did not make a mistake.

There is no advsettings.txt in my variables folder.

There is also no secsettings.txt

Is this going to require a complete reinstall or can I "fix" things somehow?

Re: CGI Error - HTTP Errors
Hi,
1-
files were downloaded straight to the server and handled on the server (I am sitting in front of it)
2-
this wasn't an upgrade, but a new install (ran gold 1.3.1 before)

FILES
advsettings.txt does NOT exist
only admin.helporder can be seen
secsettings.txt does not exist

another 'funny' thing happened during the installation:
when first calling setup.pl, the setup wouldn't work as it was looking for a file called (I think) 'cook.txt' or something like that. As this file did not exist, I refreshed the browser and it went ahead and installed.
