Problem 3) seems solved, I work under GNU/Linux and Firefox, that is why I had problems, maybe. I tried with Opera and it works.

The tar.gz and tar.bz2 problem is solved by your fix, thank you very much!

@ Liviu Lalescu

Try the following in Post.pl:
Edit the file, search for
Code
Select All
			$fixext  =~ s/\.(pl|pm|cgi|php)/._$1/i;
		#	$fixname =~ s/\./_/g;
			$fixfile = qq~$fixname$fixext~;

and add the highlighted.

Upload the file to your server. Test it, I didn't, and report here please.

Is your problem 3) still existent? If so, then empty your browser cache and try again. How is it now?

correct ...
  the inability to add tar.gz or tar.bz2 as extensions might fall into that category but we'll let the Dev's consider the solution.

I added bz2 and gz as allowed extensions. If I try to add tar.gz or tar.bz2, it changes them to targz and tarbz2 and the behavior is the same, it renames attachments to file_tar.gz and file_tar.bz2.

About JonB's suggestion, I could make a separate entry for each bug, but I was not sure they are bugs.

1) A simple user was able to answer a global announcement. This is incorrect, as is when you make a board a global announcement board, it says specifically that nobody other than admin can post or reply, no matter of settings below.

Global Announcements can be replied to from any board they appear in, Access to the Global Announcement "board" is not needed to do so and the Global Announcement Board is NOT accessible to members or guests.
   The ONLY way to keep members from replying is to select "Lock" in window when posting a GA.  See attachent

Hi

About #1 -

Despite what the documentation may say, I don't think that is how the Post.pl or ManageBoards.pl logic works.  In fact, I had to go see where you had gotten that impression.  Well there it was in YaBB black and white - right in the documentation.  But, I think, incorrect.

It is possible that the code has been updated since the release, and that may now be true in a CVS or SVN branch - but not the production version and I could find no mention of it in Bugs Fixed.

I looked for code that would support that function, but was unable to locate it. I supported that with testing.  In fact, setting up a new GA board does not set the permissions in that fashion.

SOOO I don't know if we have a buggy program or overly optimistic documentation.

BTW - as each of these is a distinct error, it would be best to post them separately.  That way they can be responded to and dealt with individually - for instance being moved to the Bugs area. - Thanks

Good Luck
Smiley

I find your lack of faith disturbing.

tar.gz and tar.bz2 Upload Issue

Hello!

My forum is on http://lalescu.ro/liviu/fet/forum/

I just upgraded from 2.2.2 to 2.4, it was not easy, but thanks to reading some posts on your forum I managed to do it.

The problems remaining:

1) A simple user was able to answer a global announcement. This is incorrect, as is when you make a board a global announcement board, it says specifically that nobody other than admin can post or reply, no matter of settings below.

2) I try to attach .tar.gz or .tar.bz2 messages. They get renamed to .tar_gz and .tar_bz2, so the users cannot unpack them correctly (for instance, file.tar.gz becomes file_tar.gz).

About this problem, I reported a longer time ago and I got an answer that it was fixed in YaBB 2.3 or something like that.

3) Logged in as admin, I want to select "Click to send an Email to ....(username)". It says in the status bar of the browser: "javascript void" and does nothing.
