Members missing tabs when using Internet Explorer
I just converted to 2.4. I have 6 users so far that are unable to access their User CP and edit their profile. The common denominator seems to be that they are using Internet Explorer. I have checked the latest version of IE on a PC running Windows 2000 and another with Windows XP; I have also tested on a MacBook running OS 10.5 and in all cases once a user logs in, the tabs for Home, Help, Search, Members, User CP, and Logout disappear. Any ideas what might be causing this? It works fine on the same platforms with Firefox, Netscape and Safari.

Re: Members missing tabs when using Internet Explorer
Are you using the standard template that came with YaBB or a customized template?
If you have more than one template available for users, are these users using the same template that you have set in the Admin Center as the forum's default template?

If you aren't sure, you can check their profile under the Options page and see what they have selected as "their" default template.

Re: Members missing tabs when using Internet Explorer
We haven't changed the template yet except to add some links back to our site and take off the YaBB graphic.

There only templates available to our members are the default and the YaBB 2.1.

Your forum is closed for registration, so can you create an account that I can test it with and PM me the login details?

Re: Members missing tabs when using Internet Explorer
Okay, nevermind, I see your problem.  It's an editing error in your template file when you modified it.

Check your commented lines.  You begin them with <!-- which is correct, but you end them with --!> instead of -->.  The result is that instead of commenting out only a couple of td's, since it didn't end the comment, you commented out the whole table that displays the menu.

So edit your template files and replace all --!> with --> and you should be back in business.

Re: Members missing tabs when using Internet Explorer
That seems to have taken care of it. My husband couldn't remember how to end a comment in html, so he used an html reference site to get the --!> Apparently, it's wasn't a very good reference site.  Roll Eyes

Thanks for your rapid responses.

Re: Members missing tabs when using Internet Explorer
You're welcome.  I've never seen one that had the exclamation mark at the end.  Apparently Firefox was either satisfied with it or ignored them altogether, I'm not sure.  But in any case, glad you got it working again.

W3C is the place to go for anything on HTML.
