Allowing Links in Signatures

Hello all,

There's a bit of a security loophole with member signatures - at The Science Forums, new members have to post 5 times before they can post links.

But....this does not stop them from including links in their signatures, which they can obviously do immediately after registering.

As this is causing extra moderation work, to be vigilant against this type of spamming, can anybody think of a way around this? It seems a bit of an oversight. Ideally there should, perhaps, be an Admin option called "Allow links in signatures?"

Other than disabling the signature facility, by setting its max length to one (not sure if it accepts zero), I cannot think of a way of automatically stopping the posting of links in signatures. Anybody?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Kind regards,

Andy.
