Change the Board Index Colour?
Jul 20th, 2010 at 8:08am

Hi all,

Something a little odd happened in our upgrade to YaBB 2.5 SE at The Science Forums: the background colour of the Board Index in the original template changed - it's now grey instead of white (see attachment). I cannot seem to find the relevant CSS element in the template to change this: can anyone tell me what should be changed please?

Many thanks and kind regards

Andy

...and sorry to be a pain, but is there any way of adding a horizontal line between each board in the index? It's not important - just a cosmetic touch.

Thanks!

Andy.

In BoardIndex.template

find:
Code (Perl)
Select All
# Category footer                          #

$catfooter = qq~
</table>
<hr noshade size=5 width=90% align=center >
<br />
~;

add highlighted (note: may have to move below <br /> tag) and you can adjust the line "size" to the thickness you prefer.

Question did you upload highlighted files below to the yabbfiles/Template folder for AE
Code (CSS)
Select All
.titlecorner {
	background-color: #cdcccb;
	background-image: url(./default/rndcorner.png);
	background-repeat:no-repeat;
}
.titlecorner2 {
	background-color: #cdcccb;
	background-image: url(./default/rndcorner2.png);
	background-repeat:no-repeat;
	background-position:right;
}
.tabtitle {
	font-weight: bold;
	font-style: normal;
	font-size: 11px;
	font-family: Verdana, Arial, Sans-Serif;
	color : #01005f;
	background-color: #cdcccb;
	background-image: url(./default/catbg.png);
}

Noticed your Fav icon isn't working - http://codex.yabbforum.com/YaBB.pl?num=1190839172/0#0

Andy .. seems you need to update your "Current Technical Issues" sticky.
  Also ... what type of field did you eliminate "areas of interest" from posts that was causing layout problems ?

Thanks so much for all this, Captain John. You are very kind.

To answer your questions:

1. Yes, I did upload all the files from the upgrade package. As usual, I just copied the cgi-bin and yabbfiles folders and replaced any existing files of the same name.

2. The "Scientific Interests" field was a text field. What was happening is that its contents were forming a column to the right-hand side of the user block, which meant a big amount of whitespace above each post. It's a shame, because I did want to display that field.

Thanks for the favico info - I will look into it.

And yes, obviously I do need to update the "Current technical issues"  Smiley

Thanks again for everything, guys!

Andy.

  That is the problem ... your using the AE Template and it and none of the graphics for the AE template were included in the "update" installation zip.
  How did you get AE templates and the AE CSS ?  You need the files I noted above.
  See attachments (yours is first, 2nd image is how it should look)

  I presume this was an extended profile field ?  Are you aware that you have several options to display this field.

In Admin Center - Ext_Profile (click on options)
Visible In ViewProfile:
Check if you want this field to be displayed on the viewprofile page.
Visible In Posts:  Uncheck
Check if you want this field to be displayed in post view, right under the author information.
Visible In Posts (as popup):
Check if you want this field to be displayed in post view as a popup window
Visible In Memberlist:
Check if you want this field to be displayed in the memberlist.

Well this is all very strange. I have no idea how we ended up with what we have - I just uploaded the upgrade package. Obviously I missed some files though....but where can I obtain these?

And also......I might be going mad (more than probable Grin) but I cannot see the "Extended Profiles" option in Admin any more......... Undecided

Now where has that gone?

Obviously I am having one of those days............

  From the YaBB 2.5AE Installation zip.

  If disabling it, you deleted ... you'll have to setup again (and users will have to fill in again).  Admin Center > Forum Settings - Members Tab, Profile
Use Extended Profiles?
If enabled, an additional item called "Profile Fields" will be shown in the sidebar to the left. There, you can add functions to the users' profiles.
