recycle bin not working
Hi again
when we installed our boards last year, we deleted the recycle bin. now we think it would be a good idea to reinstall it. I added a board, called it recycle bin, check make this a recycle board and to my dismay, it is not working. i post a topic and then delete it and it does not go to recycle, it merely deletes.

i checked permissions, i checked the add board on another forum we have where it DOES work and it would appear that the two are the same. do i need a category for recycle? Any ideas?

thanks,
deborah

Re: recycle bin not working
deleted single posts do not go to recycle-bin, only deleted threads or "moved" posts.

Re: recycle bin not working
i created a thread, then added a second post, then clicked delete at the bottom of the thread where it has the buttons:
Delete- Move, Split or Splice- Lock/Unlock-Hide-Sticky-Remove Selected
and it still didn't go to recycle. I can "move" it to the recycle bin however.
Undecided

Re: recycle bin not working
mmmm that should have ....

You do have this checked in edit boards ?
Recycle Bin?         If checked, this board is a recycle bin for topics deleted by Moderators and, if enabled in Forum Settings -> Staff, by Global Moderators and Administrators.

If "not" tickable ...

Edit Forum.master in the yabb2/Boards folder
Code Select All
$board{'recycle'} = "Recycle Bin||";

above would have been the "original Recycle-Bin"  If still existing in this file, delete.
Delete the "Newly" created Recycle-Bin, Then recreate the Recycle-Bin and the check box should now be able to be checked.

according to what I see ... you have a Category named recycle (id), with a Title of Recycle Bin with No boards.
You have a board named "recycle" (same id as the Category) with a Title of "Recycle Bin" in the category editors (id), Title Editors Only.

Delete (from Admin Center - Boards) Recyle Bin.  Delete from Categories Recycle.
Add a Category named staff (id), titled Forum Staff
Add a board named recycle (id), titled Recycle-Bin, be sure under Options/Advanced Settings - Recycle Bin is checked.
I would also add a Global Announcements Board also (making sure these (both) are created under the Forum Staff Cat.).

Re: recycle bin not working
this works great, along with unchecking the box in forum settings:

Code Select All
Do not use the Recycle Bin for messages deleted by Administrators and Global Moderators?
If checked, messages deleted by them will be deleted immediately and irreversibly.

omg, how could i have missed that one...
anyway all is well! thank you soooooo much Captain John for sticking with me. now i can say that the upgrade to this board is perfect! Can't wait for this next weekend to do our MAIN (read huge) board...

Re: recycle bin not working
Out of interest, do Recycle and Announcements HAVE to be in Forum Staff?
