I guess the answer is no then, I can't manually manipulate the date of a topic to change it's order in the chronological sort?

Topic sorting per boards is saving in cache of Browser for guests until they delete it. Its working in this way.

I understand that the mod can't do it. But is there some way that I can manually alter the files associated with the topic to change its date, so that it falls into the correct spot in my list of alphabetical topics?

This also says, "After Members logout, the sorting will reset to default sort by Last post." I'm looking for a way to permanently alter the sort. That's why I thought some manual manipulation of post date might work, though I don't know how to do that.

Thanks for the link. This says members/guests can sort the message index. What I'm looking for is a way that only I can sort the list, so that I can control how it displays. Do you know if this mod allow me to restrict sorting only to an Admin or Global Moderator? I don't want members doing any sorting.

Thanks again for your help.

Revising topic dates to affect topic order

I have a YaBB 2.4 board and I'm looking to do something somewhat unique.

I am starting a board which will consist exclusively of product reviews. Each product will have its own topic and I will make a starter post for each. Then members can hit reply to add their own reviews.

By adding the topics for each product in alphabetical order now, my board will have the topics in alphabetical order. But if I add a new product next month, it will be at the top of the board, instead of in alphabetical order. And I'm trying to get around that.

Is there a way for me to manipulate the date of a new topic in order to put it into the right position alphabetically? In other words, if all my products beginning with B were added on 8/18/10, can I manipulate the date of a topic added on 9/10/10 to change it to 8/18/10, so that it falls in the right place alphabetically in the topic list?

I hope I'm making this clear. Many thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Scott
