Is it worth including a script with YaBB that can do all the chmodding.

I know for FTP only hosts, this is of no help, but for those with shell access Wink

lol ... CHMODing is actually not that hard nor takes that long to do ....  especially using a ftp client.  Highlight ALL the folders AND *.pl files in (under) the yabb2 folder (click on the top file, scroll down shift/click on last file) , ctrl/click index.html, Right click highlighted, select Permissions, set 755. Go ....
Goto the Admin folder, highlight ALL the files (click on the top file, scroll down shift/click on last file) scroll backup, ctrl/click on the index.html and htaccess files, right click on the remaining highlighted, select permissions and set 755.  Go..
Repeat directly above for the Sources folder.
Go to yabbfiles folder, highlight ALL the folders and files, right click, set CHMOD to 755.  Go

"Now" run Setup.pl ........... yep ... without changing CHMOD on any others.  If upgrading a forum, the yabb2 > Boards/Messages/Members files  should already be set, if installing New, there are no files to CHMOD.
Normally all the files under the yabbfiles folder are Ok as written by the server (when uploaded).  We state the CHMODs for ALL folders and files, due to some "old" servers write files differently, so "IF" they need to be changed, we state what CHMOD they should be.  But updated/Newer Host servers handle this very well.

I already have a smooth running Yabb forum and wish to install another. However I am dreading the file by file chmod stuff.  Last time it took four tries.  Is there any short cut or do I just persevere.  If it was easy I would have set up site weeks ago but and dreading it.
