top - helptop - pagetop woes
Code Select All
<a href="#helptop">
<a name="pagetop">&nbsp;</a>

Doesn't work cross-browser and in particular IE8

________________

These do!

<span><a name="top">&nbsp;</a></span>
<a id="top">&nbsp;</a>

Though I believe that id=" is the way to go! Wink

So would it not be better to just include the below in the "default.html" under the <body - And that should cover the lot?

Providing of course all the href ="XXX are changed to href="top

Code Select All
</script>
</head>
<body>

<a id="top">&nbsp;</a>

<div id="maincontainer">

Lopa, you are right - and you are wrong  Smiley

So far
Code Select All
<a name="top"></a>

is perfectly valid XHTML Transitional code for anchor tags and working in all major browsers - including IE 8. But as the 'name' attribute is deprecated it is recommendable to use
Code Select All
<a name="top" id="top"></a>

This will make the code backwards as well as forwards compatible.

I like the idea of using a 'universal anchor' for top reference - it's nice, simple and easy to implement in the existing code (already done on YMF Wink )

That said - there is a bug in the 'HelpCentre.template' file:

Remove
Code Select All
<a name="helptop"></a>

then find
Code Select All
       <td width="100%" class="catbg" align="left" valign="middle"><span class="small">$helptxt{'2'}</span></td>

and replace it with
Code Select All
       <td width="100%" class="catbg" align="left" valign="middle"><span class="small">$helptxt{'2'}</span><a name="helptop" id="helptop"></a></td>

Re: top - helptop - pagetop woes
Thanks Carsten,

I made the change against my better judgement - but who am I to argue with the brains of the outfit?  Grin

I've just spent days cleaning up and re-writing templates for 2.5AE that are absolutely riddled with warnings.  Cry And I'm just about to the stage where I now get ALL green as in the pic.

Wink

When I get through to the final template and gain some more experience with YaBB - I'm going to come and join your site!

Demo is in my www tag.
