The only thing I have done to the member groups screen on the new install is change the names of the post-dependent member groups and change a few settings on the color of the stars.  I have not created any groups, but the post-independent groups from my old board are not there.

O.K. I pasted the groups from membergroup.txt file into settings.pl but they do not show in the admin centre (done all the maintenance rebuilds). Does this look right?

how I can move the groups and membership from the 2.2.3 board to the new 2.5 board?

If you edit Settings.pl in the yabb2/Variables folder, you can edit (replace) the membergroups with the groups within your membersgroup.txt file (which is no longer used).  Then run the rebuilding Maintenance functions in Admin Center.
The problem was from Y2.2.3 to Y2.3.1 was the eliminating several Variables txt files and including them in Settings.pl, special (unique) setup was required.

Memberlists did not move to new board

Hello all,

I moved from 2.2.3 to 2.5AE this past weekend, by doing a new install and moving everything according to the quick guide instructions.

So far, things have gone pretty smoothly and most of the problems I've been able to fix.  But the membergroups did not seem to come over.  I had a few post-independent groups that are not listed on the new board.  They are listed in the /Variables/membergroups.txt file in the new location, but do not appear in the Member Groups screen under Member Controls.

The memberinfo.txt file, which has the users and the groups they belong to got moved with the rest of the Members directory, but appears to have been overwritten with a list that uses a different format for the field that designates the groups you belong to.  For example in the old memberinfo.txt, it says 4,5 for three members who are in those post-independent member groups, but in the new file, that field says 447 for one user, 42 for another, and 214 for a third.

The only thing I have done to the member groups screen on the new install is change the names of the post-dependent member groups and change a few settings on the color of the stars.  I have not created any groups, but the post-independent groups from my old board are not there.

So what did I do wrong, and how I can move the groups and membership from the 2.2.3 board to the new 2.5 board?

Thanks as always to everyone who has worked on this great software.
