Is it possible to run different forums in one installation? I don't mean categoies or boards from the AdminCenter. As possible only a separate starting Page and a saparate path or file for the datas. Users should not be recognize the combinations.

If you mean  ONE INSTALATION OF CODE - well - uhh - yeah - maybe but very very tricky and prolly just a poor idea.  IF you are concerned about the diskspace needed for code - don't worry about it - it is insignificant.

If you mean CAN I HAVE MANY FORUMS on one server - absolutely.

Look in this Codex Article:

http://www.yabbforum.com/codex/YaBB.pl?num=1190847481

" Installing multiple YaBBs on the same server " about 1/2 way down the page.

This method will allow you as many forums as you wish on one shared-hosting server, however they will all be under one domain name. This is is a limitation of shared hosting (what most would call 'webhosting')

If you mean CAN I HAVE MANY FORUMS ON ONE SERVER, WITH MANY DOMAIN NAMES -

Yes, for sure - however you will need a hosting arrangement that allows that - or have your own servers. The usual option here is to get a VPS hosting plan.

Good Luck

I find your lack of faith disturbing.

Thanks for the tipp. It works.

The reason for that was to avoid redundancy und to spare the work with CHMOD. It's troublesome.

The instruction was for 1.x. For 2.5 I installed in yabb2/ and moved all objects with the exception of Admin/, Help/ and Languages/ to the library forum1/ respectively copied them to forum2/ and so on.

Then I changed Paths.pl

form
Code (Perl)
Select All
...
########## Directories ##########

$boardurl     = "http://xxx.de/cgi-bin/yabb2";	# URL of your board's folder (without trailing '/')
$boarddir     = "."; # The server path to the board's folder (usually can be left as '.')
$boardsdir    = "./Boards"; # Directory with board data files
$datadir      = "./Messages"; # Directory with messages
$memberdir    = "./Members"; # Directory with member files
$sourcedir    = "./Sources"; # Directory with YaBB source files
$admindir     = "./Admin"; # Directory with YaBB admin source files
$vardir       = "./Variables"; # Directory with variable files
$langdir      = "./Languages"; # Directory with Language files and folders
$helpfile     = "./Help"; # Directory with Help files and folders
$templatesdir = "./Templates"; # Directory with template files and folders
$htmldir ...

into
Code (Perl)
Select All
...
########## Directories ##########

$boardurl     = "http://xxx.de/cgi-bin/forum1";	# URL of your board's folder (without trailing '/')
$admindir     = "../yabb2/Admin"; # Directory with YaBB admin source files
$vardir       = "./Variables"; # Directory with variable files
$langdir      = "../yabb2/Languages"; # Directory with Language files and folders
$helpfile     = "../yabb2/Help"; # Directory with Help files and folders
$templatesdir = "./Templates"; # Directory with template files and folders
$htmldir ...

You can also move Templates/ to yabb2/. I need it separatly in each forum for individually modifications.

Great -

Just a note to you: You will need ALL the folders duplicated, and matching coopies of the public_html/yabbfiles folders also. If you don't do it that way , you will not be able modify the appearance of the Forums independently.  Theme elements are found in both locations. The attachments folder also need to be unique to each forum -

I don't know if that was apparent or not, but that's the deal. Two complete structures per forum, all with unique names.

Good Luck
