Hi,

Yes it seems like that. I guess it could be tomcat that are messing with me.
Anyways, I did some more research and found a workaround.

As far as I can tell it is the URL redirect in 'Downloads.pl' that are not working on my system. This line in specific:

Code (Perl)
Select All
print "Location: $uploadurl/$dfile\n\r";

If I replace the above line with this piece of code it will work:
Code (Perl)
Select All
use CGI;
my $q = new CGI;
print $q->redirect("$uploadurl/$dfile");

If any of the developers read this it would be great if you could comment  Smiley

Attachments Dir:
Change this setting in Path Settings      /home/web/apache-tomcat-6.0.28/webapps/ROOT/yabbfiles25/Attachments
Attachments directory exists and has correct permissions?      Yes

Attachments URL: http://hostname/yabbfiles25/Attachments

So I would say "check" on all the points you listed.

If I enter the URL http://hostname/yabbfiles25/Attachments/ in the browser I won't get a file listing, but if I point out a file it works. Ex: http://hostname/yabbfiles25/Attachments/bart.gif

If not .. correct in Admin Center - Path Settings  (If correct, verify Url)

Attachments Dir:   "Must be an absolute DIR"
Attachments Url:   "Must be a valid Url"

Hi John,

Maybe I was somewhat vague in my explanation. I try again Smiley

So.. First,  I'm running YaBB on a Debian box.
I installed YaBB 2.5 today. Installation went smooth.

I posted a test message in the "General board" and also added an attachment (a .zip file ~100KB).
When I then read my own post and hover the mouse-pointer over the attachment link, I can see that it points to:
http://hostname/cgi-bin/yabb25/YaBB.pl?action=downloadfile;file=Guide_to_CGi_in_...

When I left-click it I get a blank page with the address:
http://hostname/cgi-bin/yabb25/YaBB.pl?action=downloadfile;file=Guide_to_CGi_in_...

But nothing happens. No download-window appears in the browser. (FF+IE7).

So, why is this happening? If I enter this path in the browser:
http://hostname/yabbfiles25/Attachments/Guide_to_CGi_in_Perl.zip
I get a download window prompting me to direct where to put the file on my hard drive.

Please advice.

Downloads ??  The forum allows uploading attachments, which are displayed (images) or linked.  If linked an attachment is opened.  Of course the extension of the file must be recognized as the type of file that is related to a program.
  There is No such thing as downloading via YaBB.  Right clicking on a link as within any browser would allow downloading.
   Files not displayed, such as a txt/pdf/xls are all linked.

  Links must be valid to work.  Meaning the file must have been uploaded to the yabbfiles/Attachments folder (Path Setting Must be correct) and Folder CHMOD must be 755 or higher.
  Also since you uploaded attachments (they must have been uploaded via the Post/Reply window using the attachment window).  If upgrading a forum and attachments are moved/added directly to the folder, the Admin Center - Maintenance functions - Rebuild Attachments must be run.

Update: I did a fresh install of yabb 2.5 (no upgrade) and I get the same problem.

Is it Downloads.pl that handles the attachment downloads?

Upgrade 2.2.3 to 2.5AE -> downloads not working

Hi Friends!

I have upgraded my 2.2.3 installation to 2.5AE.

Everything seems to have migrated well, except that I cannot download any attachments in the 2.5 version.
Both old AND new (added within 2.5) attachements won't work.
When I click the link all I get is this URL in the browser, but nothing happens:
http://hostname/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?action=downloadfile;file=perl_5_quick_refe...

Same problem with both FF and IE7

Please advice.
