Creating multiple themes using variables

Hehehe!  Wink

All the graphics in this theme are put in place using variables and a .config file - http://members.iinet.net.au/~cranky65/cgi-bin/forum/YaBB.pl

This way one can create as many different themes as they wish and where none of them either interfere with each other, or with any other theme for that matter.  Tongue

It's not finished as in what "Finished" should mean, and I doubt that I will do any more to it. So if anyone who at least understands the template system wants a copy to play with - Just download all the necessary bits and pieces etc in the .zip file.

It could be a benefit for any future releases of YaBB - But it does need people to test it - form opinions - and provide feedback to the YaBBagrammers!  Grin

1. Run the MOD for 2.5AE (Makes about 80 transparent changes)
2. Add the theme files and install etc.

Should be good to go!  Wink

Have a play with the ThemeCfg.pl file and one should soon get the gist of how it works.

That looks way cool to me ... unfortunately, I don't understand the workings of the theming system at all. I'm trying to figure out a way of getting the guy who made Fire n Ice to come back, and update it to the current version.  Wink

But I just wanted to mention how cool that looks to me ....

All right, you provide a mod file and some graphics ... I will try it for at least a while on my new forum.

Assuming, of course, that it will install with all my other mods.

I've only just noticed this thread. Embarrassed

Nice job, Lopa - the template looks great. I haven't tested the Mod out yet, and it looks like I'm going to be busy updating my own Mods for 2.5 now, but very nice all the same...

Out of interest, did you make the images yourself?

@ both of you,

It's not a finished theme or mod etc, it's just something for people who are interested in themes to play with and evaluate as an alternative way of creating themes.

No I didn't create the the graphics - They're GPL - But on the other hand if I knew who originally created them, I would credit the author in the footer, as is my general practice. Wink

I can't edit the first post to remove the url because I want to do other things there with a different theme - so here's a snapshot of what's in the zip. Wink

Edit:

I've added a theme changer to the styles so that one can now switch between them to see more of what I'm trying to do.  Tongue

Thanks but it's not finished and it's really a bit tooooooo brash for me to bother with it. Wink

There are some better ones in my sig-link. Wink
