My Forum creates an HTAccess file daily in the cgi-bin directory that causes a 500 error. Once I delete the file my Forum is online again as if nothing has happened. The line in the file today was "# Last modified by The Guardian: Oct 22nd, 2010 at 7:28am #

<Files YaBB*>
Deny from 193.105.210.172
</Files>

Any ideas what this means?

Its probably causing the error beacuse of your host's policy on where .htaccess files may be placed.

- BUT - doen't matter - you need a fix

Its coming from part of YaBB, that is defaulted 'on'

Admin Center > Security Center > The Guardian

1st item -  Global and Server settings

Use The Guardian™ to protect your board?

Activate .htaccess to add IP blocks on server level?
(only works if your server supports it)

Uncheck - both boxes, Save settings

~Voila~

The items in the list box just below the settings are the IP's or domains that have been blocked.  You could check those values against your member's IP's or use a geo-ip-locater to 'guess' where they are coming from.

Good Luck
Shocked

I find your lack of faith disturbing.

Many Thanks, that's fixed it.
