OK -

Take out 'jon's fix' LOL

try this instead (also in YaBB.pl) -

Code (Perl)
Select All
if ($ENV{'SERVER_SOFTWARE'} =~ /IIS/) {
		($dummy,$IISver) = split( '\/', $ENV{'SERVER_SOFTWARE'});
		($IISver,$IISverM) = split( '.',$IISver);
		if (int($IISver) < 6 && int($IISverM) < 1) { eval 'use CGI qw(:standard -nph)'; }
	}

You will be adding the -nph parameter.

I have asked that the developers check my syntax and logic - as of the time I posted that fix, they hadn't, and there was nothing to lose - it might have 'just worked'.  I did think that there were a few more things that needed work but I'm not a Perl infrastructure specialist, I'm a network and data architect  Wink

I'm quite sure we are onto the issue, but I didn't write the fixes before.

Thanks for giving it a shot - we are this much further down the line now.

Cool

Thank you for your help this far, I entered the code in YaBB.pl as described,

### Version Info ###
$YaBBversion = 'YaBB 2.5 AE';
$YaBBplver = 'YaBB 2.5 AE $Revision: 1.23 $';

if ($action eq 'detailedversion') { return 1; }

# use CGI::Carp qw(fatalsToBrowser); # used only for tests
use CGI qw(:standard -nph)

BEGIN {
     # Make sure the module path is present
     push(@INC, "./Modules");

When I then try to access http://forum.psoriasis.no/cgi_bin/yabb/YaBB.pl

I get the following error:
CGI Error
The specified CGI application misbehaved by not returning a complete set of HTTP headers. The headers it did return are:

syntax error at g:\activewebroot\00335\w00335972\cgi_bin\yabb\YaBB.pl line 28, near "BEGIN "
Execution of g:\activewebroot\00335\w00335972\cgi_bin\yabb\YaBB.pl aborted due to compilation errors.

Well there is little to lose -

Try editing YaBB.pl and adding the highlighted code:

Code (Perl)
Select All
### Version Info ###
$YaBBversion = 'YaBB 2.5 AE';
$YaBBplver = 'YaBB 2.5 AE $Revision: 1.23 $';

if ($action eq 'detailedversion') { return 1; }

# use CGI::Carp qw(fatalsToBrowser); # used only for tests
use CGI qw(:standard -nph)

Good Luck
Wink

OK -

Here's the 'partial deal'. I am almost certain the problem is unique to IIS 5 (not sure on earlier), but it does not plague IIS 6 or IIS 7.

I'm reasonably confident that your server is coughing up expired cookies set to expire on Jan 1, 1970.  THUS - you never can be authenticated with YaBB (we use cookie based authentication).

(Little Pile of Stones)  therefore - you can't login.

If you or your host know about using a packet capture tool (like Wireshark) you can confirm this... That would tell us we have the problem identified correctly.

As IIS 5 came out about a decade ago, there are only a few relics still running it.   I even gave up my last one about 3 years ago (I was the one who uncovered the problem on YaBB).  Sooo, the notes on the fix have disappeared from the YaBB Forum.

So I'll inquire with a couple of other YaBB folks, (and I may be able to find an installed YaBB with the fix in place) and do some research to unblock memories.

HOWEVER - since your hosts may have more than one relic server, they may KNOW the solution on their own.  Tell their support folks that YaBB needs the NPH (No Parsed Headere) Fix for Perl on Windows 2000/IIS 5.  They may already know the fix.

My recollections are that we need to add soem code to YaBB.pl, BUT I don't know if it needs to go elsewhere.

I AM ON THE CASE.  hahaha

Cheesy

mmmmm I have also installed a new forum under cgi-bin/Boards and won't run do to not being able to read nor write.
  I see your on WIIs 5.0, JonB is are Windows Server guru, but I noticed on all your folders now, you have no owner nor group assigned to any folder or file.  Don't believe that is right.  Contact your Host and turn in a trouble ticket. (see attachment)

At first I tried an upgrade, but had the same problem then.
Then I have done a new install, and I still have the same problem.
I have not used anye cap, special carachters in username or in the password.

Now I cant even log in with the desfault username admin and the password admin (I have not changed this yet, no one else has access to this server but me)

This has also been the problem if I change the admin password, I tried to change it from admin to 12345678
And then I also was unable to log on again.

I have sett the permissions to be 755 on all folders.

I hpoe you can help me with this

Is this a New Forum or an Upgrade ?  Y2.5 or another version ?
Did you use any caps, unique characters or spaces in username/displayname or password ?

Unable to log in to my new forum

Hello! I have just set up a new YaBB forum.
All seems to be ok, and working, however.. when I have added a member with YaBB Admin Center. The new memer is not allowed to log in. All it says is that there is a mismatch with username and password. I have checked this serveral times, and have checked that it is the correct username and password, but still the same error..
Any ideas anyone???
