And where is Manual?  I found a description
'Spam Protect - Enter Percent (Read Manual for Info) '

This setting only has to do with Personal Messages and thus only concerns registered members. The text in brackets should have been replaced with the description from Marc's (dOCdaS) original mod package. I consulted my old dusty box of "Nuts and Bolts" and found this:

Quote:
     - every User has to enable the Popup/Sounds into his User-Preferences
       if he wants them working
     - if the admin disables the Popup and/or Sound Options they arent
available for the members in their profile anymore
     - SPAM Protect means that the user can send one IM to a maxmimum of users
which the Admin has set in the Admin Panel in percent. This means if
the Admin has set 10 and the Board has 100 members any member can just
message 10 Members with one single IM. If he would enter 11 or more
member names into the recipients field he will get an error message.

Hi

I have the same problem.
I did check that "Automatic Flood Security" in "Admin Center - Security Center - Flood/Session Security"?  thingy.

And where is Manual?  I found a description
'Spam Protect - Enter Percent (Read Manual for Info) '

at Admin center >>Forum configuration>>Advanced settings>> Advanced Personal Message Box.

I am not sure if that helps us to stop spams or not, but I guess I should try. So, I need that 'Manual'

Thanks in advance.

Agree with JetLi - best way would be to upgrade - but, just to make sure: You do know about the "Automatic Flood Security" in "Admin Center - Security Center - Flood/Session Security"?

Spammers Out of Control

Hello,

We've been having terrible trouble with spammers now for about 10 months or so and the problem is getting out of control. We only get about 2-3 per day actually posting a message on the forum, but we have between 5 and 10 new spam accounts created every hour. Myself and my other admin spend our lives deleting these accounts rather than getting on with developing the forum.

I'm not very techno minded, a friend created the forum for me but I have been able to run it ever since. I'm running on version 2.1. Somebody suggested that I install CAPTCHA to prevent automated registration, however after having enlisted the help of a professional I'm advised that this is not compatible with YaBB.

Does anybody have any suggestions as to how I can combat this problem????

Many thanks, Jenna.
