How do I download a template from BoardMod?
I'm trying to get a good procedure for installing a template code from BoardMod. I copied the code from BoardMod, go into my Admin center, forum layout, and templates, then paste the code into the box where either default.html or yabb21.html is already listed? I refresh my user and it shows up. Is this the correct way? This only affects layout ie colors and how buttons and links are viewed? Can I title and save it in this section? Or am I going about this the wrong way?

Hi,

Take a look at this for installing templates:

Re: How do I download a template from BoardMod?
I am trying to extract one of the templates from BoardMod. If I go to BoardMod, Template Vault and choose a template and view code. I copy the code into a txt file. I don't see any other files associated such as .css. Where do I put the code i.e. do I paste it into admin center/forum layout/template. If so, how do I save so, it is an option when I go Forum settings and load it as a default for my users.

Also, that link works with 2.4, does it work with 2.5? Do I need the .cfg for 2.5 to work?

The actual template vault is a little out of date I'm afraid. You're best off checking the forums - you can find a couple of templates for 2.5 here:

http://www.boardmod.org/yabb2/YaBB.pl?board=templates

All you need to do is download the zip package attached to the post and follow the instructions in the link I gave you above.

Yep. It's exactly the same adding a template to 2.5 as it was in 2.4.

Nope. You can totally ignore that bit.

Re: How do I download a template from BoardMod?
I found a good template (Blue Noir) on the site you gave me. Now I just want to customize the header to include a picture and the name of my site. I added my .jpg into the templates/forum/BlueNoir, then I went into admincenter/forum layout/template and modifed BlueNoir.html code by inserting my .jpg where the YaBB link was.

<td align="right" valign="middle" width="400" height="100" rowspan="2"><img src="{yabb images}/earthcropped.jpg" alt="YaBB - Yet another Bulletin Board" title="YaBB - Yet another Bulletin Board" border="0" /></a></td>

Here is the link to my site - www.share-hub.com.

Is there a way to just import the .html into a program like Artisteer to manipulate the header then drop the .html back into the folder/file structure som, it looks a little more flowing?

Re: How do I download a template from BoardMod?
I can't say I've ever used Artisteer.

I guess in theory you could view the HTML in it because it's a .html file, but you couldn't really keep the file structure - YaBB uses tags to find the path to the images '{yabb images}', so I don't think it would really work...

Looks like I didn't make the header background gradient high enough for larger logos though - I can make you a bigger gradient if you want?

How exactly do you want it to look? Is that the only image that you want there? Is it just the padding around the edges that is bothering you?

Artisteer designs Joomla!™, WordPress, Drupal, DotNetNuke, and Blogger. "CMS products"
You can't open manually edited templates or html back in Artisteer as Artisteer can open only .artx files.

Re: How do I download a template from BoardMod?
I would like to get my image to fill up that entire header and have my website name centered and riding on top of the picture and also have the "Good afternoon / you have messages" to ride over the pic as well in the same spot that it is already in (top left). I guess I was looking for a program that could drop in an image and some text without throwing the site out of whack. Everything else I want to leave the same.

You are right, Artisteer lets you export an html but not import one. It's a nice graphical tool but, hard to integrate.

You will have to clear your table cells from your header, then make the logo image a background image. Possibly placing the cells over the image.

See attachment, the red lines are your cells

Okay. I was thinking myself it would look good with that image spanning the whole header. I presume you already have that in a larger image?

The easiest way for me to tell you how to do it is if you could zip both of the images (background and logo) up and attach them here for me - that way I get it looking okay for you and pass you on the code changes...

he he - That explains that then. I didn't look into what is was about properly. Grin

The text was just added through "Paint" as I wasn't sure how to layer my logo ontop of the picture.

Re: How do I download a template from BoardMod?
Sorry, but that's not a lot of good to me - The main background image needs to be at the very least 900px wide (ideally over 1200), and I need them in two separate images for this to work.

I'm basically going to set the forum to have a max width of the background image width, so the wider, the better...

Edited:
Actually, it doesn't really matter if it's only one image, just as long as it's big enough.
