How can I brighten this washed-out gray text?

Hi,
I'm just starting a YaBB message board and I'm finding this tiny gray text to feel washed-out. Is there any way to make the default font BOLDER? I'm looking around on this site and I'm seeing that this soft gray text is everywhere. Is there any way to change it? Also to change it as the default for posts (like this one  -- I see that I can manually change it for each post, but I'd like to change it as default)

thanks!

(also is there any way to disable ALL smileys FOREVER? I would like to eliminate that aspect of internet culture from my site)

(referring to my first post below:)

If you feel like looking at it, here's my new board --

I need to keep that beige background because it's the 'theme' color of my project, but the gray on top of it looks so depressing. Any way to bolden it up? thanks

Change the highlighted in the style sheet to the color you want:

Code (CSS)
Select All
.message {
	font-size: 8pt;
	font-weight: normal;
	font-style: normal;
	text-decoration: none;
	font-family: Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, Sans-Serif;
	color: #62686F;
}

Which text in specific do you mean? All the font colors can be changed in the CSS file...

I don't think there's actually a way to totally disable them by default, but you could hide them from being used. In Admin center => Add More Smilies at the bottom of the page:

Remove all Smilies below the Post/Reply message text field? - Check
Show Added Smilies: - Set to Nowhere
Smilies Directory Contents - Set to Nowhere
