SourceForge web hosting changes

On February 9-11, you may have noticed outages at yabbforum.com and boardmod.org.  During that week, SourceForge was migrating their web hosting to a new setup which rendered all web software nonfunctional until they were reconfigured.  Both sites were back up within a day.  The Support Codex at http://codex.yabbforum.com was fixed today.

One advantage from this migration is faster and better email support for sending from the sites.  It also makes managing the site's data much easier.  The server is supposed to be faster due to load balancing, but unfortunately this advantage seems to have resulted in slower page loads.  In addition, their file system which does not support file locking still provides a disadvantage to YaBB which slows it even further.  If you notice anything working incorrectly at any of these 3 YaBB sites, please let us know.

Don't think YaBB needs this, especially due to historical issues.

Yes... darnED slow. The forum needs a minimum of 15-30 seconds to react after each click. It's quite unusable. This forum has never been very fast, but now with SourceForge it's unreasonable.

I want to say that right now Yabb is running correctly, I do not know why people install PHPbb, when this is the best forum under  Pro language programming.

My system too was taking too much time for loading forum pages and I came to know from this thread that it was because of the sourceforge webhosting changes. I too agree with the point that the slow page load is because of the load balancing of the load. I think the new changes have more disadvantages that advantages. So it would be better if they return back to old hosting. I think the only advantage that this change provided is the better email sending support.

Indeed the addition of email sending support from SF hosting was a great addition.  However, I agree that their Perl engine, file handling, and load balancing has worsened.  The only thing that works well is using MySQL versus files and better yet not using Perl.  That rules YaBB out on their servers.
