Still no word from Corey. I hope he is not running away with the money.

No, I never provided an email address since the order form didn't ask for one which is strange, they just wanted to know the website.

Anyway, he can contact me at saovaluck_garland@yahoo.com with the details, if you can pass that to him. Thanks Derek.

Out of interest, did you get a confirmation email or anything back after you placed the order?

No worries. I've left him a message anyway, asking him what we should do, so one of us will get back to you...

Okay I'll wait to hear from him.

Thank you for your kind help Derek, I haven't tried the 2.4 templates yet, but if I have any problems I'll let you know.

The license has been ordered on the page, what happens next?

I'm actually not too sure about that - you'll have to wait for a response from Corey.

I don't know if he does it himself, tells you how to do it, or gets one of us to do it. He should get back to you soon - If he doesn't, I'll contact him for you...

The license has been ordered on the page, what happens next?

How do I rename YaBB, and hide it completely now that I have rights?

Thank you.

How can I get in touch with him?

You could send him a PM. He's the third one down in the member list - Corey Chapman.

Or you could just order it from the bottom of the license page: http://www.yabbforum.com/licenses.php

I managed to install version 2.5 finally.

Great! Smiley

Where can I get the 2.3 template that you mentioned? I don't like the greyish colour of the page. Blue is more clear to the eye.

I've attached the files that you need to this post. Just overwrite yours with these - there's a chance that the CSS file could have been cached though, so you may have to refresh your browser a few times after.

I think it just covers the major releases, so it would just cover you for the 2.* versions and you would then have to pay again if you upgraded to YaBB 3 in the future. But you would have to contact Corey (the project leader) about that.

Quote:
Buying a license gives you the right to remove the copyright at the bottom of one forum on your website and/or rename/hide the main executable file (YaBB.pl) of the forum, although it does not give you priority support. However, we will help you with the aforementioned items. Licenses apply for the major version of YaBB you purchase it for and any service pack or upgrade that may exist in the future for that major version.

That's something I'll keep in mind.

Is $50 a one time fee for life. Even if I upgrade to a new version in the future, I don't need to pay again?

Does the landing page of the forum have to be called "YaBB.cgi", or is it possible to rename it to something else?

It is possible, and it is actually very easy, but unfortunately I can't tell you how to do it, because like I said in my above post, it is now against the YaBB license to rename or totally hide YaBB.pl.

One of the old developers made a change in the code to make it possible to change YaBB.pl to anything you want to a couple of years ago, but then the license changed so you now have to pay $50 for the privilege.

http://www.yabbforum.com/licenses.php

If you have any objections to this, then have a read of this thread and please feel free to post your opinions there.
