We've installed YaBB 2.5 AE, which is a great improvement over the earlier version, thanks!

However, attachments don't show up as a viewable picture but require clicking to view in a separate window.

How do we get the pictures to show up in the message as it did in the earlier version?

Hi,

Is it a fresh install or upgrade?

The setting to display attached images in posts is in Admin Center => Advanced Settings - File Attachments tab:

Display Picture Attachments in Posts?

Though, it should be checked by default. If it is already checked, then try re-saving the settings.

Another thing that can cause images not to display is when there are no values set for the image resize feature. In Admin Center => Advanced Settings - Images tab:

Make sure you have values set and save the settings. See if any of those do the trick...

Which files exactly are you talking about?

loaded Boards, Members, Messages and everything looks and works fine. Pictures on new messages won't appear. I've attached a screenshot of the settings you suggested ...

Okay, if they're the only files that you've copied across then I'm a bit stumped to be honest. I've only ever knew this to happen because of a JavaScript issue (like using the old YaBB.js file) or when the settings haven't saved for some reason.

Open Variables/Settings.pl in a text editor, and you should find something like this:

Code
Select All
$max_attach_img_width = 1200;                     # Set maximum pixel width for attached images, 0 disables this limit
$max_attach_img_height = 600;                     # Set maximum pixel height for attached images, 0 disables this limit

Is that present in the file? Are avatars and inline images displaying as they should?

So are the images from your old forum displaying okay, and it's just the new ones posted aren't?

Avatars also don't appear, but I thought that was a separate issue.

Both newly attached and previously uploaded attachments don't display

It's all related and makes me convinced that it's a JavaScript issue.

In the 'yabbfiles' directory, open up 'YaBB.js' in a text editor and take a look at the header - it should say that it's for YaBB 2.5... Does it?

Can you give me the link to your forum so I can take a look? If you don't want to post it publicly then you can PM it to me. Note that PMs won't work on this forum when using the 'Quick Links' (because it's a beta version), so you'll have to go to my profile and PM me from there.

It's hard for me come up with any more possible causes without seeing your board...

It looks like you've buggered up the template files somehow. If I was you I'd re-upload the 'default.html' file for the default template - that should fix it - you'll obviously have to make your design changes again after though.

Basically, 'YaBB.js' is no longer being called in the head section of the template file - there's loads of code missing from the header...

The template file is most definitely the problem - attach your 'default.html' for me here, and I'll fix it for you...
