Domain Blocking in 2.3.1.

Hi, am I being thick here? I want to block some domain emails (163.com, etc) do I simply put *@163.com in the ban email text box?

I've read elsewhere that I should just put 163.com in the  domain filter of anti-spam settings but that clearly says "Enter the Email domains that will be the only ones that can be selected during registration" not that those entered will be blocked.

Ta

Think about one thing - 'you want to block the Domain'

Then roll down the page a bit -

Quote:
Blocked Email Domains
Enter the Email domains that will be blocked during registration, guest posting or profile changes.
Leave blank to disable.
One domain per line. (Ex. unwanted.com)

I tried to track back when YaBB added 'blocked domains', as that was not part of the original Mod that later became part of the YaBB core (it was called Distilled E-mail Domains, and worked as you wondered about -- to PERMIT on certain domains).  If Blocked E-Mail Doamins is NOT part of 2.3.1, it is part of YaBB 2.4.1 and up - and that is a relatively simple upgrade.

Good Luck
Wink

Edited:
It werky!
You may not register with, post as a guest or change your email address to one from the domain @123.com

Wow, I really was dim this morning! How didn't I see that?? Strangely the text box mentioned in my opening post about allowed domains fills my lap-top screen just nicely and it looked as though that was all there was on that page - should've looked more closely!

Thanks for your reply  Roll Eyes

I too was trying to block domain mails but failed. So I asked many friends, but that too havenít helped me. I was entering the domain name with @ symbol in the text field mentioned to enter the email domain name that to be blocked. I have followed the suggestions of JonB and successfully blocked the domain which I was trying to block. I havenít checked the page closely and I think thatís what caused all the troubles. I should have been more careful. Thank you for the support.
