In the last 24 hours your mod automatically spatted 39 of those buggers. One did get though that I swatted.

I think this mod should be nominated for "Mod Of The Year!"

That's good stuff, Ron. Smiley

I best add that fix to the mod package soon then, seeing as there hasn't been any more problems.

Jon,

Since you are trying to figure some stuff on this issue, I figured I would pass on information.

The YaBB forum where I am running into this problem is a 2.4 version forum. Broadcast messaging has been turned off for at least a couple of weeks, yet I am still getting PMs from 'ex-members' on a nearly daily basis.

Since mine is one of the forums where this is constant, if you would like, I have no fear giving you an admin account on this forum for purposes of being able to check on almost anything you might like here, if desired. Can also provide server access, if needed, for non-YaBB log files and the like.

Let me know.

OK, thanks batchman, I will likely take you up on that. I'll need to think through what I want to look for.

I'll send you a PM when I get a few ideas sorted out. Is the server 'yours' or hosted? Is it a VPS or shared if hosted?  I'm thinking about looking at the access and error logs at the server level.

I also need to do some testing with one of my own servers to see what logging I get when a broadcast PM is sent.

Thanks again
Cool

It's just basic hosted service ... using c-panel for error logs and the like. Forum is http://www.jonbatchelor.com/cgi-bin/gkyabb2/YaBB.pl

Sign up for an account when you are ready and let me know, and I'll promote you.

Regarding these PMs from ex-members, I came across this the other day which may or may not be of interest (I've 'noparsed' the link so they don't get ranked in Google):

+ using Mass-PM mode through engines YaBB and PunBB was implemented.

I don't know exactly what it means or what it does, but it seems they have an interest in PMs anyhow. Angry

try putting this in the guardian environment string blocking section:

xpymep

I am waiting to see if that catches them first or my other older method does.
