Great. Glad you got it working. Smiley

You might want remove your settings file from reply #5 now that it's not needed too.

@SharonH

I assume the first list belongs to the new install and the second belongs to the old install?

Both forum.master and forum.control in the new install need to match the old one. (Actually, everything in the Boards directory should be duplicated in the new install.)

Any apparent difference in the Perl coding is more or less cosmetic. (qq~~ vs "")

Oh yeah - like Derek said, remember to rebuild the boards through admin when you're done.

Hi Sharon,

If you've made fresh install, then try copying the 'Boards' and 'Messages' folders from your old forum to your new forum, and running the 'rebuild' functions in the Admin Center.

oops Derek

I replied to you above but addressed the message to Pete. Sorry about that. Reading all posts again.

Any idea how to solve my new problem or should I poste the new issue somewhere else?

You're welcome, Pete - I'm glad it worked out for you.

You'll probably want to modify your last post to delete your settings file now though.

Pete

Thanks so so much but I ran into a huge problem where the board kept asking me to confirm my password as I had logged in from a different IP address .... it just wouldn't let me log in as admin and I just gave in and did a complete install of the latest version....

I have managed to get all the old users active on the new board by doing some copying and pasting but I can't figure out how to get the old posts into their categories .... I have copied them over and am looking at the forum.maste file and am a bit confused now!

Any idea how to make sense of that or make the two match ....

$mloaded = 1;
@categoryorder = qw(general staff);
$cat{'general'} = "general,test";
$cat{'staff'} = "announcements,recycle";
$catinfo{'general'} = "General Category||0";
$catinfo{'staff'} = "Forum Staff|Administrator, Global Moderator|0";
$board{'general'} = "General Board||1";
$board{'test'} = "Test Zone||";
$board{'announcements'} = "Global Announcements||";
$board{'recycle'} = "Recycle Bin||";

1;

$mloaded = 1;
@categoryorder = qw(general 2);
$cat{'general'} = qq~general,News,BER,Conserve,3DRE,3CRE~;
$cat{'2'} = qq~~;
$catinfo{'general'} = qq~General Category||0~;
$catinfo{'2'} = qq~Domestic Renewable Energy|Administrator, Global Moderator, God Member, Senior Member, Full Member, Junior Member, Ask About Energy Newbies|0~;
$board{'BER'} = qq~BER Assessments||~;
$board{'3DRE'} = qq~Domestic Renewable Energy||1~;
$board{'Conserve'} = qq~Conservation & Efficiency||~;
$board{'general'} = qq~General Board||1~;
$board{'News'} = qq~News||~;
$board{'3CRE'} = qq~Commercial Renewable Energy||1~;

1;

Maybe I need to change some other files too ????

Thanks for the help!

Sharon

Okay, try these attached. Hopefully they'll get you up and running anyway. Unfortunately, because you didn't actually upgrade the settings, you will have to go through them again, especially the member groups - but unless you want to start the process again, then it's the best I can do I'm afraid. Smiley

Edited:
Edited to delete the settings files.

Hi Pete,

To try and save you starting the process all over again, can you attach your Settings.pl file for me here please, and I'll take a look for you...

I downloaded the YaBB_2.5_AE_Upgrade and followed the readme_update sequence.   Left a browser on the "Forum Settings" page, uploaded the 2 sets of files for 2_3_x and upgrade_all into existing directories.  After CHMODing the files, I went to do a “save” on the "Forum Settings" page.   The first time I tried a save, there was an error message about the “default number format” being incorrect.   It had a comma in the number format instead of a period.  I fixed this and tried another save.  Then got the message about invalid value for the default forum template.

I'm probably going to need some good luck.

Pete:

Please describe how you performed your upgrade.  Did you create new folders for the new versions of yabb2 and yabbfiles, or something else?

Thanks & good luck
Cool

I find your lack of faith disturbing.

I have reloaded the CGI-BIN files to make sure they were uploaded in ascii mode.  Also checked the "Variables/template.cfg file and that looks OK.

Upgrading from 2.3.1 to 2.5.  When I go to do a "save" on the Forum Settings page, I get the message "You have entered an invalid value for this item: default_template (Select the default forum template for Guests or new members:)".  The dropdown menu for Default Forum Template has no entries available to select.
