Problems With Apple Mac & Safari

Hi guys

Several of my members using an Apple Mac and Safari are having problems with youtube.  Below is the messgae from a member as well as a screen shot.

I have Safari on my PC and don't have the problem so seems confined to the Apple Mac

Any ideas on this one.  I am running YaBB 2.5 AE

Thanks

Derek

G'day Derek,

I have a bit of a glitch with the forum. If any posts have Youtube video attached the video appears at the top left of the screen yet there is a black blank video screen showing in the post.

Further to this all the controls (play pause stop etc) are still in the blank black screen and aren't visable. Just take a stab in the dark and press the blank screen and the video plays up in the top left of screen. Really weird. I've never experienced this ever before on any forum.  Grin

I have an Mac computer and I am using Safari as my browser.

Anyone else having this problem?

Thanks

My Internet is down but my hubby has a new Mac mini. I'll look at it as soon as I can - my bet is a CSS issue as Mac sometimes renders things differently due to a DOM issue.

If you only have one solution to a problem you're not trying hard enough!

I can confirm this on OS X 10.6.8 and Safari 5.1.5.

I'm not actually too sure why it's happening, but changing the embed code seems to fix it - so you will need to edit the code. This will actually improve it anyway, because full screen will work too.

In Sources/MediaCenter.pl find:

Code (Perl)
Select All
        } elsif ($media_url =~ m/youtube\.com/i) {
            $media_url =~ s~watch\?v=~v\/~g;
            $video = $embed_media;

And replace with:

Code (Perl)
Select All
        } elsif ($media_url =~ m/youtube\.com/i) {
            $media_url =~ s~watch\?v=~v\/~g;
            $video = $embed_youtube;

Then find:

Code (Perl)
Select All
$embed_flv = qq~

And add before:

Code (Perl)
Select All
$embed_youtube = qq~
    <object width="_width_" height="_height_">
        <param name="movie" value="_media_&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&version=3" />
        <param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" />
        <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" />
        <embed src="_media_&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="_width_" height="_height_" />
    </object>~;
