Hi. Can YaBB 2.5 be made to work on a Debian server and, if not, are any plans in development for that?

YaBB should run on any server that has Perl and an HTTP server like Apache installed. The actual computer operating system is basically irrelevant so long as you can run a web server and Perl (and which versions of those that can run depends on the OS.)

My own test bed computer is running WinXP with Wampserver and ActiveState Perl. I have a dual boot running Fedora and whatever version of Apache and Perl that came with it. The 'on-line servers' are running Linux with Apache.

YaBB has programming provisions built-in for running on an IIS server (Windows).

So why shouldn't it run under Debian OS?

If you only have one solution to a problem you're not trying hard enough!

Same here. I'm running YaBB 2.4 with Debian, and our forum runs very well.

I had forgotten to mention that both this forum and YaBB's BoardMod use Debian, and both forums obviously work quite well.

Hats off to UK2Smiley

I don't specifically know the answer to your question, but you'll most surely get an answer over in the Debian User Forum.
