CGItemp files

Our forum installation has a lot of CGItemp##### files in its yabb2 folder.

What is the purpose of these files? the word "temp" in the name leads me to believe they are remnants from a past forum problem that should be deleted. But not knowing what they are, I hesitate. There isn't an extension to the file and it always begins with CGItemp" then has various 4-5 character numbers in the name.

??

These files are a sign of a problem with the CGI.pm's garbage collection.  CGI.pm handles file uploads for Perl. If you would open them with an editor, you would discover they are binary copies of uploaded attachments. I'm going to guess you are on a Windows Server?  That's a typical problem, and I have to do cleanups myself. (I have several YaBB forums on IIS based Windows Servers.)  I'll have to look later this week, I think there's a way to point the accumulation to a different spot.

Junking them will have no adverse affect, they are only used during the upload.

Good Luck
