Thanks for responding, I'm new to this site also, and am having a hard time getting used to it.  But anyway, it wasn't a gift, a bunch of people I work with are former NW airlines mechanics and they got me interested in this.  I now work at a different location, so don't see them any more.

I bought an e-flight apprentice, electric one, about 50" wing span.  So far I've just been trying to learn to control it on the ground, I know if I tried any more than that, I'd crash within seconds !

I'm in the boonies (Anoka), and have heard that a good way to start would be to have someone patch in to my controller and save me before I crashed.  Does this sound like good advice ?

I know - but heck it was a legit question, even if this is a weird place to post it.  Roll Eyes

I mean seriously, an airplane question on a forum on forum software?

Was it a gift?

The first step (aside from reading the instructions with the plane) is to find an RC flying group/club in your area. Those can be most easily found by locating the nearest hobby shop selling RC gear and asking around - the flying groups usually try to keep a good relationship with the places selling them their gear.

I'm sure someone from a flying group will be willing to show you the ropes.

If you're out in the boondocks, read the instructions that came with the plane and find a nice empty field to play in. The hardest part is landing (and that's true of the big planes, too  Wink )
