Question about YABB table code & images

Can tables in YABB load background images?  If so, what is the correct syntax?  I want our photographers to be able to post images with a clear GIF overlay. Is there a way to do it in YABB?

I don't see any way of doing that using UBB code. It is probably  possible (have not tested this) if you allow html code in your posts - but there are some serious security issues with doing that.

If it is to thwart downloading of graphics - any savvy person can still grab the background graphic using basic browser tools.

Until the last two versions of Firefox, the most savvy person couldn't have got to the original asset unless they had gained ftp access to the gallery files. Any attempt to call a photo, because how the URL were rewritten and parsed, a call through a browser window was redirected to clear gif or a 404 page.

The two other features remain at least. @ xnoddyx Your son would probably skip the save-as button since FF would shows the background image file size to be zero. The gallery changes the filename to a non-image name to XXX.cgi and display that in the save-as box.

Looks like it is time have someone upgrade the code.

There is a mod to allow html in posts. http://www.boardmod.org/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1288196468 That's probably what you're looking for.

Yes, that is what I"m looking for I believe.  One more question, can you specify table size or alignment with Yabb forum code?

The UBB for tables is pretty primitive. In fact, on 2.5AE the default is no borders on the tables at all - but that can be changed in CSS using a few selectors.

Other than that, I suspect 'html in posts' is your best hope for getting fancier than that.

Edited:
The issue is that for safety, when the UBB code is processed into html for display, everything that the UBB processor doesn't recognize as being allowed is stripped out. Now, it might be possible for someone to write a mod to allow more tags inside the table, tr, and td tags - there may actually be a mod for it, but I don't recall seeing one.

Yeah, taking your users' levels of expertise into account is always helpful  Roll Eyes

Some of the users on my own boards are still trying to figure out how to use UBB code.  Tongue

if that is all you want to do then in default.html find
Code
Select All
<body>

and add after

Code
Select All
<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
var disabled_message = "no save";
document.oncontextmenu = function()
{
   return false;
}
document.onmousedown = function md(e)
{
  try
  {
     if (event.button==2||event.button==3)
     {
        if (disabled_message != '')
           alert(disabled_message);
        return false;
     }
  }
  catch (e)
  {
     if (e.which == 3) return false;
  }
}
// -->
</script>

and save
