Very many thanks folks for all your input, Downloaded 2.5AE on a subdirectory as an add-on domain and so far so good. Uploaded a new forum logo to replace yabblogo. Works fine but need advice on moving the logo to the left of the top banner space and place the text "Welcome, Guest. Please Login or Register" to the right of the page. Your know-how will (as always) be greatly appreciated.

Look in ./Templates/default.html and look for the table cell with
Code
Select All
{yabb uname}

(The cells begin with
Code
Select All
<td>

And end with
Code
Select All
</td>

)

Switch the cell with the yabb uname with the one with the graphic.
But if you want to do any serious customization of the templates, you'll need to learn a bit about HTML.  Wink

If it's the standard 2.5 template, the next cell has something like:
Code
Select All
		<td align="center" valign="middle" width="460" height="100" rowspan="2"><a href="http://www.yabbforum.com"><img src="{yabb images}/yabblogo.png" alt="YaBB - Yet another Bulletin Board" title="YaBB - Yet another Bulletin Board" border="0" /></a></td>

But if you've edited the name of the logo file, it will be different, naturally.
Just grab the line with the yabb uname in it (the whole thing from start of td to end)  and move it to beneath/behind the one with the logo in it.

Thanks Dandello for detailed explanation. It worked a treat!   Cheesy
It just needs to align a bit to the left margin of the page (it is about 40mm away from edge of page). I guess these spaces need to be deleted??..

Code
Select All
		<td align="center" valign="middle" width="460" height="100"................

HTML will be my Bible from now on! Wink

HTML shows nothing that isn't inside the tags, so the spaces outside the tags mean nothing except to make the source code neater for those who are OCD about code looking neat.

But without actually seeing the page in question, I can't say why something isn't aligning. It could be that the graphic needs to be have positioning added. It may be you need the cell next to it folded into the cell with the logo... And saying that something's misaligned by mm also means nothing as what I see on my screen will be different than what you see on yours and HTML doesn't use mm.

But taking out the 'align="center"' won't hurt.  Wink

I took out the 'align="center"' and put the logo tight to the left of the banner section, just where I wanted it.   Cheesy

Just one more question: if I was to create a logo the full width of the forum page, (just as the logo banner of this forum) where the "Welcome, Guest. Please Login or Register" text would go?

I appreciate your support on this issue.

WOW xnoddyx!!! Shocked   That's a full frontal logo/banner Wink I nearly had to scroll down 45 pages to see the boards!! Cheesy.

So, if the logo/banner pic/jpg takes the full width does the "Welcome, Guest. Please Login or Register" text would wrap itself below the banner?? Huh

Actually in this case those logo images are set at backgrounds so the the information (flip-clock and greetings) can be in a floated division on top of them. A similar effect can be done with layering divs using positioning and z-indexes.

Not exactly simple - but with clever html and css you can do a lot. Which is why you're not going to find easy how-to-do-it answers.

if you want i can show you the code for that and you can go and give it a test and work it to your needs.
or
you can give me some more info on what you need and what it is for and i will see what i can do for you

but your best option it to give it a go your self on a test Template  Wink

That would be great xnoddyx. Basically just want the logo/banner to extend the width of the forum page as on this forum and put the "Welcome guest" somewere below or using the banner as background.

Many thanks

do you have the default 2.5AE template on your forum?
Edited:
in default.css find
Code
Select All
#maincontainer{
	width: 92%;
	margin-left: auto;
	margin-right: auto;
	padding: 0px;
	border-top: 0px;
	margin-bottom: 10px;
}

and replace with
Code
Select All
#maincontainer{
	width: 1024px;
	padding-top: 329px;
	margin: 0 auto;
	background-image: url(./default/logo-banner.jpg);
	background-repeat: no-repeat;
	text-align: left;
}

make the logo-banner.jpg or logo-banner.png 1024x329
if you change the height of the image also edit the padding-top: 329px; height.  Wink hope this helps
