Disable guest but still see guest logged in
Yabb Ver 2.1 I was getting lot of attacks Guardian has been sending large amount of messages to me. I decide to block all guest just for a test. Disable guest access box is checked but yet on the form I still see 1-5 guest logged on at times WTF.

Re: Disable guest but still see guest logged in
They're not 'logged in'. But something from those IPs  is looking at the default page - whether they can access anything or not. And it won't stop them from trying to put crud in in the address line that would trigger Guardian.

Re: Disable guest but still see guest logged in
So disabling guest has no effect  Sad I can block ip for days but no effect as they just change the address. Any other options ?

Re: Disable guest but still see guest logged in
You can have Guardian not sent you emails.  Roll Eyes

Seriously - the fact that Guardian is sending these things means 1) Guardian is working and 2) for whatever reason, the spammers have targeted your forum.

Since you're running 2.1 you might want to look at upgrading to 2.5 and adding some anti-spam mods or 2.5.2 (keeping in mind that 2.5.2 is still in Beta.) At least that way you can give the spammers a headache. Wink

Re: Disable guest but still see guest logged in
Which is why I suggested the 2.5.2 beta - So far on testing it can make the jump from 2x without problems. (But make sure you have a full backup of your forum in a safe place, just in case. But you should do that before any upgrade anyway.)  Cool

there is Installing YaBB 2.5.2 here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kuT6FDHqoWE
but have not made the upgrading 1x or 2x video as of yet  Sad

but in the YaBB 2.5.2 Quick-Guide that comes with the 2.5.2 zip
under Upgrading YaBB 2 you will find all the info you need and if you find any part a bit hard you can always post back here for help or assistance  Wink

no the YaBB_2.5_AE.zip but to Upgrade from 2.1 you will have to Upgrade to 2.3.1 then to 2.5AE or you will end up with the n/a post count glitch.

I made the mistake of going to the link you sent that was to 2.5 upgrade.
I know see the beta test thread Your up to 252_09_15 So should I use that to update ?

The more direct link is at: http://testbed.dandello.net/downloads/index.shtml

So far testing has shown no problems with directly moving from 2x to 2.5.2 - just follow the instructions in the Quick-Guide.

at the time i posted the links i did not know what one you was going to download so i posted both links for you as saying "sound great" don't necessarily mean i will download sorry for any confusion and inconvenience this may cause you.

no there is a more up to date one yabb252_10_06.zip this link also has full info on it as well as the download http://testbed.dandello.net/downloads/index.shtml

also remember to keep a backup copy of your forum and that the copy is good you may also want to do a test install of yabb 2.5.2 in cgi-bin/yabb2.5.2 and public_html/yabbfiles2.5.2 before attempting to update to get the ins and outs and then post back with any questions you have  Wink
