Attempted upgrade, now even my backups won't work
Hello everyone,

Last night I attempted an upgrade and it did not work out. So I figured I would have my host upload a backup. That's not working out either, it says all my members are ex members.

Can someone have a look and see what they think? I can't even login as an admin.

http://www.austinboatforums.com

Thanks,
Evan

Um, you don't say from what version to what version - but there can be problems on an upgrade if you don't set the time and date of the new forum to match that of the old one. (If you can edit Settings.pl by hand, check on that date.)

Re: Attempted upgrade, now even my backups won't work
Is the idea that they replaced 'everything'?

I have a working theory (pure speculation) that what was restored was a partial restore.

Ask the host what date they restored from.  The use FTP to see if there are files newer than that date.

Do you have your own backups?

Good Luck

Re: Attempted upgrade, now even my backups won't work
At this point, I am just trying to resurrect the old one and not so worried about upgrading Smiley

I had them restore completely. I had them do it a second time and said to wipe the site because I was seeing files from today's date. They just did it again, but my member's file is still showing several new file dates and I can't still login.

I thought I had a backup, but it apparently stopped downloading halfway through the directories.

Re: Attempted upgrade, now even my backups won't work
The files from today's date probably has to do with the fact that every member login is recorded - which rewrites the file that records it. So if the admin was logged as being logged in, (whether the admin had access or not) then at least one admin file will have today's date.

If you can access Settings.pl through the file editor, what does it say it the start date for the forum is?

I am not seeing a settings.pl at all. I see others, like settings_main.pl. Is it one of those?

In the Variables folder (sorry I wasn't more explicit.) Settings.pl is where YaBB stores most of the board settings.

I had my hosting company go back to a 10/7 version. I am looking on the server and it looks like there is also a yabb 10/2 backup. I can't login to admin though.

I am not sure how many members, ~150 or so and posts no idea.

Had the company go back to a 9/30 version in case the backup was corrupt and that is having the same problems too Sad
