All your groups should be listed in Variables/Settings.pl

Here's an example
Code
Select All
$Group{'Global Moderator'} = 'Global Moderator|5|stargmod.gif|blue|0|0|0|0|0|0';
$Group{'Moderator'} = 'YaBB Moderator|5|starmod.gif|green|0|0|0|0|0|0';
$Group{'Administrator'} = 'YaBB Administrator|5|staradmin.gif|red|0|0|0|0|0|0';

# Post independent Member Groups
$NoPost{'1'} = 'tester|1|staradmin.gif||0|0|0|0|0|0|0';
$NoPost{'2'} = 'testb|0|starblue.gif||0|0|0|0|0|0|0';

# Post dependent Member Groups
$Post{'50'} = 'Junior Member|2|stargold.gif||0|0|0|0|0|0';
$Post{'250'} = 'Senior Member|4|stargold.gif||0|0|0|0|0|0';
$Post{'500'} = 'God Member|5|starsilver.gif||0|0|0|0|0|0';
$Post{'100'} = 'Full Member|3|starblue.gif||0|0|0|0|0|0';
$Post{'-1'} = 'YaBB Newbies|1|stargold.gif||0|0|0|0|0|0';

@nopostorder = qw(1 2);                           # Order how "Post independent Member Groups" are displayed

If these transferred over wrong, then you may have to remove them by hand from Settings.pl. The
Code
Select All
@nopostorder = qw(1 2);

tells YaBB in which order to present the NoPost groups. If there isn't a number in the list corresponding to each NoPost group, then that Group won't appear in the Groups Manager in the Admin Center and can't be edited.

Then check Boards/forum.master
example:
Code
Select All
$board{'chat'} = qq~Talk It Up|Administrator, Global Moderator, God Member, Senior Member, Full Member, Junior Member, YaBB Newbies, 2|~;

Makes sure the categories and boards have the Groups separated by both a comma and a space and the spelling matches exactly the entries in Settings.pl.

I have noticed an issue....
- Some of our member groups are missing.
- Boards that require these member groups for access are no longer visible to the members of those groups.
- If I try to recreate the groups YaBB is telling me that they already exist (can't have two groups with the same name).
- Both post independant and post independant groups seem to be affected.

Could you please advise me as to how I might check this area out myself?

Thanks again.

Here's the thing:
This field was not populated in the admin centre nor in the Paths.pl file.
Code
Select All
$yyhtml_root = "http://yabbtest.test/yabbfiles2.5.2";

I don't understand how that would happen, but there it is. Thanks for your great support, I hope I don't need to bother you again for a long while.

it's cool post back any time you need as for the $yyhtml_root = field not populated this would have stopped all images loading on the forum are you sure it was just the avatars not loading?

OK avatars don't work at all. Any suggestions?

update: images don't work (except for smilies and stars) menu buttons don't appear either. Images don't work in posts or signatures.

ok for a test can you add this to your url
yabbfiles/avatars/nn.gif

so if you have yabbfiles in the root of your website it will look like
http://mysite.com/yabbfiles/avatars/nn.gif

Yeah the image will show in a browser.

In my Paths.pl file there is one empty field:
$yyhtml_root = "";
