Here is a forum still running YaBB 1 Gold - SP1.  It is a pretty large forum in posts and members.  That was a clean, good looking, well running version of YaBB!

There are not many running a really old version of YaBB though.  Shows how functional and stable YaBB was even back then to be running 11-year-old software.

There's something to be said for older stable software. Even that old. It's obviously still doing the job.  Wink

I think stability/reliability is one of YaBB's strongpoints, all versions, not just the latest Smiley

I can happily attest to how functional and stable YaBB is. Smiley

I didn't upgrade from Yabb 1 Gold SP 1.4 to our current YaBB 2.4 version until sometime in 2010 I think, and our forum's been around since 2002.

As of this posting, the following are our stats:

Most Users ever online were 3091 on Today at 12:31pm.
Most Members ever online were 44 on October 15, 2012 at 4:16pm.
Most Guests ever online were 3063 on Today at 12:31pm.
Most Search Engine inquiries on-line were 536 on August 22, 2012 at 5:43am.

Our users have made 12578 Posts within 1834 Topics.

We have 7689 registered members.

The irony about participation in our forum is that relatively few people actually visit, and fewer still post comments. But that's the nature of the Internet. According to actual server stats that have been recorded over the years since 1997, our most popular site has been hit/visited more than 125,000,000 times even though an online counter we began using later on only shows 74,960,098 hits/visits ... obviously, visitors who keep coming back, and generating multiple hits throughout a current count of 2,673 pages (versus unique visits, which of course would be a far lower number).

And to think it all started out as a hobby site operated by a small handful of people.  Wink

Regarding older versions of YaBB that are still online, I've noticed that many of those forums have been abandoned, and are still operating without admins ... taken over by spam-bots who are basically spamming each other (kind of funny when you think about it).

Morning, noon, or night, have a great one!

I remember  YaBB 1 Gold - SP1. Made a forum for the NYC Buccaneers Motorcycle club with it. It ran for several years without a hitch back then. They had over 200 members on that forum and it never crashed or was hacked. Then they dissolved and let the website expire. Sad

But  YaBB 1 Gold - SP1 was excellent then as it is now, and for those who want a very simple forum without the bells and whistles - should give it a try.

Bill, where have you been? I've missed seeing you about (you probably didn't think you'd ever hear anyone say that around here).

Everything okay?

It's all good ... just got caught up with a much busier schedule these days. Still, I do try to take some quick reads in this forum, Carsten's, and Dandello's forum as well.

I'm glad it's all good. I was worried someone else was going to disappear. Smiley
