fork a thread
ok when i say 'fork' a thread i don't mean like the Admin splitting off off-topic stuff

ok 'fork' a thread
admin option on/off and what it will do
every post has a fork button
yer i know  Sad but bare with me so now you have
(Mark & Quote) (Quote) and now (Fork) highlight
on the post that you want to 'Fork'
you click 'Fork' this will then copy the name of the thread but with "FK:bla bla" or you can also highlight a part of
the post like 'Mark & Quote' click (Fork) this will then be the new name of 'Fork' now in the first post of the 'Fork'
it will have the url to the part from where it was Forked from time date by and also a copy of the post that was 'Fork'
and also a post from the user that made it how is that sounding?

looking for some one to code this  Wink

That seems like a great option to use on people like me who tend to get  l o n g  winded with their posts. I always thought that would be a great option to have for the forum.

I kind of do this already on one of our sites where I start someone's forum quote on one of the main pages of the site, and let it trail off with a link to the actual post for people who want to read more. That way, our main pages can be succinct, and people can still read everything the author wanted to post. It's also a good way to get people to jump over into the forum instead of simply staying on the main pages of our site.

Morning, noon, or night, have a great one! ...

Re: fork a thread
I kind of like the idea. As for the discussions on being able to change the title of a current thread, I think this should not be allowed.

If I start a topic with a specific title, I don't really want the title to be changed. I gave a specific title for a reason. Why change it?

No coding from me. I'm lucky that i'm able to do what I can now Grin

But, I do learn something new everyday.
