Debug Mode everyone sees out put for a maximum of 30 min

YaBB install help video
1. what yabb forum are you running and the url
2. describe in as much detail as you can what happens and also post screenshots if you can
3. please be patient we live in different time zones and have other commitments but we will help you
as bill and ted say (Be excellent to each other)

I have an idea (if the problem is the Index Page of the Forum), but I will need to test things, and confirm what I suspect.

If you are talking about the Front Page of YaBBforum.com (the site Index page) I can only say - you have to ask?

BTW. I just 100% cleared/flushed a copy of IE8.

I typed in "http://www.yabbforum.com/community/YaBB.pl" by hand, and used a stop watch - <Enter> 2 seconds later the Front Page of the forum was built.

Just tested an overloaded Win 7 machine with Google 4 seconds-

That one I had a cookie in - I suspect Guests do get a faster load, as they fail all the tests - thus there is much less work for YaBB to do.

If you both are in Scotland it could be a BGP or routing issue, have you run traceroute?

Cool

I find your lack of faith disturbing.

I just run a cron job to backup my YaBB hourly.  Not ideal, as it doesn't lock the forum, and takes about 20mins on my site, so any restore needs maintenence controls run on it to sort out indexes etc.It also does offsite backups via FTP, back to a Windows server, that pops them on a tape.

cool sounds good  Wink

C. I think its the case that most larger forums rely on FTP based backups or host-provided server backups ...

Yep, that's the category we're in (relying on both). Generally speaking, we perform incremental backups throughout the day. Previously, they didn't really take long at all, and thankfully, it's never slowed our forum down.

Unfortunately, and I'm pretty sure it's not related to YaBB, our incremental backups have recently been taking quite a bit of time. I don't know why. But it's really not a concern because, again, the backups we perform don't seem to slow our forum down at all.

On a related note regarding the use of a backed up file, just recently we've had spam registrants causing our error log to become corrupted. But it's merely an irritation, as I've simply, and quickly uploaded one of our backed up errorlog.txt files onto our server; no biggie.

Morning, noon, or night, have a great one!
