Deleting and reregistering user
Nov 10th, 2012 at 11:12am
There are no actions to perform.
A user registered on the forum (requiring approval) before I upgraded from 2.5 to 2.5.2.

After the upgrade, there was no link to approve them.

I therefore deleted the user and checked for any remaining files - There was just one file in the Members directory referring to this with a ".wait" extension.

If they try and register again it comes up that the account or e-mail address already exists, and will not proceed.

I've gone through the admin tools to recount memberships, etc, but with no luck.

Any ideas ?

Thanks in advance,

Daniel

Sorry, should have mentioned.

Yes, I've checked the memberinfo.txt file and it isn't listed in there.

Thanks

Hm, I'm still new to the inner workings of YaBB, been away too long, it's like a new system entirely to me Tongue

There's the registration.log in the Variables folder, but I don't see any e-mails in that file.....

Edited:
Ah, you wrote account OR e-mail registered.... Could be a collective error report, not revealing which of the two in specificity, I mean, it could be the username that's still present somewhere, not the e-mail. You've of course also checked memberlist.txt and members.ttl?

I've also had this happen before; still happens occasionally. What has worked for me is to simply delete the *.wait file. I wasn't clear if you had done that already.

Hi,

I had already deleted the .wait file.

I've just tried again now to register on their behalf.  Each line on the registration goes green (with the tick) to say the username is available, e-mail address is OK, etc.

After submitting it says now:

"This user is already pre-registered! "

I've checked the 'Members' directory and there are no instances of any files with this username.

Any ideas - Thanks in advance for your help.

Daniel

Thanks for all the replies and details.

The only reference to that user is in the memberlist.approve file.

Do I just need to remove them from there ? - and they should then be able to re-register ?

Thanks
