everyone blocked from my forum
I checked with hostgator and they think it is not a problem at their end.

Only I can access my forum. No-one else can. Only the YaBB forum is affected. Is it possible I somehow banned everyone except myself?

I recently installed the new bug fix mod from boardmod.

2.1 mod_bwlimited

That doesn't look good.

Hostgator were able to access the forum (they showed up as a guest), so they must at least know how to over-ride the block.

Can you recheck permissions, ensure files where uploaded correctly.
Maybe send above error message to them in a ticket, ask them to recheck permissions their end?

Re: everyone blocked from my forum
I am doing live chat with them now. They just asked about the upload process. The permissions look fine, but I will take a closer look. Does it make sense that a permission issue would be IP specific?

It may be connected to the upgrade, you could install a backup and see if the forum works?

I think they have fixed it. Would you mind having another look for me?

Any idea how this happened?

Hello,

Your site has a .htaccess file in the /forum directory which allows a certain list of IP addresses and blocks everyone else. Here is the file:

order deny,allow
allow from 74.202.255.240/29
allow from 216.110.94.176/28
allow from 216.110.94.224/27
allow from 173.11.193.20/29
allow from 199.187.122.66
allow from 199.187.122.67
allow from 78.46.70.238
allow from 204.187.12.90
allow from 74.86.15.72
allow from 180.149.241.242
allow from 175.107.133.185
allow from 217.27.250.160
allow from 204.187.14.74
allow from 204.187.14.73
allow from 204.187.14.75
allow from 58.106.5.157
allow from 66.28.139.242
deny from all

I added the pagewash IP (66.28.139.242,) to the list, now the site loads in page-wash.

If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Re: everyone blocked from my forum
Loading okay now, did you activate any antispam settings after the upgrade?

Just wondering why the IP bans where in place?
Edit: see you have been having problems since early December, could be related to Hostgators actions.

Re: everyone blocked from my forum
Yeah I have been playing around with the anti spam settings, but I suspect it was hostgator. Would a host use that method to block people from the forum then allow me access via my IP only?

ok i think that your host has made edits to this file as any edits made by yabb will put this at the start and end of its edits like this
Code Select All
<Files YaBB*>
Deny from 212.227.136.205
Deny from 93.182.189.28
Deny from 49.145.118.226
</Files>

YaBB install help video
1. what yabb forum are you running and the url
2. describe in as much detail as you can what happens and also post screenshots if you can
3. please be patient we live in different time zones and have other commitments but we will help you

Re: everyone blocked from my forum
Thanks. I think I'll blame hostgator for the moment, though they did not fess up to it at the time.

They shut down my forum last week and granted me specific permission for my IP only. The settings must have gotten reinstated for some reason.

lol even when hosts have that oops moment when there engineers unplug 4 - 8 network cables and say i.e. 'Some customers on our Windows VPS platform may currently experience degraded network performance and connectivity issues. Our engineers are aware of this issue and are currently investigating. We will provide regular progress updates.' you no that it means time to clock off and fix it when we are back in. lol
