Here is an interesting question..............

My file StopForumSpamLog.pl as an example is located on my hard drive in this location
upgrade yabb/cgi-bin/yabb2/Admin

and StopForumSpam.pl is located here
upgrade yabb/cgi-bin/yabb2/Sources

now in the boardMod v2.5.6... the path to yabb.pl is as follows.

upgrade yabbYaBB_2.5.2cgi-binyabb2YaBB.

These locations are different.   is this a problem?  could this be the error?

Yes, that's a problem.  When using the the file browser in BoardMod, you may have selected the wrong folder. 'yabb/YaBB_2.5.2/cgi-bin' is not the same folder as 'yabb/cgi-bin/yabb2'

If you only have one solution to a problem you're not trying hard enough!

it looks like the ._StopForumSpamLog.pl has a period "." and an underscore "_" in the front of it.....

is this right or should I remove it?

Fresh download shows filename StopForumSpamLog.pl (no dots or dashes), looks like file is corrupted.

My forum was never officially launched..... so it is in a sense a back up for me... it is not being used by anyone. and I do have a copy of the forum on my had drive but cant make a new one that everyone is suggesting to me on this topic and others.

I could not launch the board with all the spammers trying to get in...

to late for an y valina.. already uploaded everthing and the forum is totally different with new files

way to late for that...6 pages.....later

Argggg!

From my instructions:

Be sure you have a backup of your forum just incase something goes wrong while installing a mod. When I first started installing mods, I made a separate forum just for testing out a mod before installing it on my live forum. Although I never encountered a problem with the actual forum due to a mod installation, it doesn't hurt to do it on a separate forum until you become comfortable. It also doesn't mean that you won't have compatibility issues with another mod once you have a few installed. For me, it has only happened once, and as of now, I have close to 30 mods installed.

You can't say that it's  "way to late for that...6 pages.....later" it's in there.

the board mod is OK with me... I used it. got all steps to be "OK" so that was fine... I just can not get this to run on my  website.. Do you have any advice for that?

I appreciate the support..

dave

Now that you have boardmod to work, all that'seft to do is upload the files that were edited to their directories. In simple terms, all files in the sources folder on your computer that were edited should be uploaded to the sources folder on your server, and so on....

That's it! Simple as that.

It's all explained in the link I sent you 6 pages back.

I don't know what more I could explain. Read the instructions in their entirety and you might understand.

If it's any consolation, I boxed myself into the same kind of corner that you've boxed yourself into when I first tried installing, and then using Boardmod.

As such, I think your instinct to start from scratch is a good idea.

If it helps at all, my suggestion is to go to Merv's help section about how to do this, and take the time to read through it thoroughly. He's been a great help to other people, including myself, and it helped me a lot to follow his instructions step by step.

I know this is frustrating; I've been there! In fact, I kind of need to relearn Boardmod myself. But hang in there. It'll be worth the effort.
