The Guardian, scripting and Wikipedia

One thing that really annoys me on The Guardian since YaBB 1 is that the scripting protection also blocks many links to Wikipedia and some other sites because they often use # and ( ) in their urls, for example:

Code
Select All
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/MDK_(Computerspiel)#Bedeutung_der_Abk.C3.BCrzung_.E2.80.9EMDK.E2.80.9C

Bedeutung der Abkürzung „MDK“

So what is the best solution? Turn off scripting protection completely? Or "whitelist" Wikipedia links in some way?

It seems here on yabbforum.com scripting protection is turned off? Because the link works.

I would simply whitelist wikipedia and the other specific sites you know your members consistently link to that Guardian has issues with.  (Which I suspect is what happens here - I know Guardian is turned on because we had some interesting issues a while back while experimenting with attachments with banned words in the file name.  Cool  )

@ xnoddyx
That does not help me, I knew HOW to turn it off. The question was if it SHOULD be turned off.

@ Dandello
Erm... and how? The Guardian does not have any whitelist function Wink .

that it SHOULD not be turned off unless you have someone on the forum almost 24/7 that can check links out.

as in you don't want some bad person posting a url that has a form of DOS refresh and open windows code .

but anyways hope you find the answer you are looking for.

Oh, yeah, that's on the to-do list somewhere... Roll Eyes

Edited:
I just tested that link on the 2.5.4 Testbed and it works fine as a link. So you might want to check your Guardian settings. The ones for the Testbed are pretty minimal and I don't have anything auto-writing to .htaccess.
