Re: Setup fails
I have a problem with the Tabs. I get an error report if I try to create one;

Could not open a new file on the server, check the paths and chmods ./Languages/English/tabtext.txt

and, of course, it is not displaying the tab text I have already created

I have checked the reported problems, but they are set correctly. If you click the empty tabs they will take you to other pages. The first empty one goes to the main website

Re: Setup fails
Are both the Languages and English folders set to 755? Can you open and edit the email text from the Admin Center?

Re: Setup fails
Both are set to 755 and TabMenu.lng is set to 644

I can email my users, is that what you mean?

Re: Setup fails
Doh! - forget all that, I just realised for some reason the tabtext.txt file has done a runner, so I have put it back in again.

Re: Setup fails
In the Admin Center under Forum Controls there's an 'E-mail Messages' link that opens up a series of pages for actually editing the outgoing default email messages. If you get an error when trying to open or edit in that window, then there's still a permissions/ownership issue with Languages/English.

Re: Setup fails
The email edit function works just fine. Almost there now.

The final one is the Attachment images are not displaying although the link to them is there and works fine. I have specified the size (500 and 0) and ticked the box. What function creates them?

Sorry about all this, but I am vey grateful for your help

Re: Setup fails
Those are run through a couple processes, including javascripts in yabbfiles/greybox/ - let me look in and see what my diagnostics come up with.

Re: Setup fails
That would be nice - what I'm seeing is that the attachment graphic isn't being run through the graybox code at all. This could be a problem with graybox OR something in Advanced Settings -> Images. When linking to graphics in a post, do they appear okay?

yabb is owned by 'root' and I cannot change it. Have you quit for the nigh?

as yabb is owned by 'root' and the way the server is setup anything in yabb will not show and will give a 404 so if you can delete it or see if your host can delete it for you then i can get your forum moved to the url that you are wanting http://scalesoaring.co.uk/cgi-bin/yabb/yabb2/YaBB.pl

and yes sorry i ended up falling asleep at the keyboard lol

i am also happy if Dandello wants to take it over and help you.  Smiley

Re: Setup fails
And the path to YaBB.js was wrong in default.html - I fixed that for you and you should be good - at least on that part.  Wink

Re: Setup fails
xnoddyx - I deleted yabb this morning, but I am now changing the links on all my web pages (about 590 pages) to point at the new address, so I am OK with that. It all works except for the attachment problem. Thanks for all your assistance. This new version is wonderful as it keeps all those idiot spammers away. Long may it continue
