Regarding bulletin board code that is used in forums (BBC), the help page for your forum is here.

A better help page, however, is YaBB's help here on this page (basically the same bulletin board code).

******************************************************

As for controlling the position of images in your forum better, I recommend centering your images by using the following BBC code:

Code
Select All
[center]
Your Image Here
[/center]

The result will come out as follows:

******************************************************

As for displaying a short link instead of a long url, I recommend using the following BBC code:

Code
Select All
[url=http://www.yabbforum.com/community/YaBB.pl]YaBB's Forum[/url]

With the code above, your link will look like the following:

YaBB's Forum

However, if you simply want to display the actual url, and it's long, you can shorten it by using Google's URL Shortener.

The following is an example:

Long url: http://www.yabbforum.com/community/YaBB.pl

Short url: http://goo.gl/OFdGZ

Morning, noon, or night, have a great one!

Depending on which version of YaBB, the UBB/YaBBC code has hints built-in. When moused-over, a little tag button should come up with an title for the button and instructions to right-click for more information. There are also explanations in the 'User Help' section.

You create short descriptor tags for urls by hand editing a tagged url from
Code
Select All
[url]http://yourlinkhere.com[/url]

to
Code
Select All
[url=http://yourlinkhere.com]My description here[/url]

Edited:
And the arduino.cc forum is SMF, not YaBB. I doubt very much of what's here will be all that helpful.

Best End-User Hints??

Hi, the Arduino.cc forums are YaBB.  Thousands of people are using this, but most do not know how to use the tags etc. Me included. Can someone point to a good Hints / How-To for the beginning USER of a YaBB system?

Example: A link at arduino.cc/forum/index.php/topic,153918.0.html

How can I better control the position of images??

Also, How can I enter a long URL but have a nice short displayed link??

Thanks!
