Maybe we'll leave to JonB. (My last foray into Linux land left me with an Apache/perl install where I can't find the blasted config files to turn off mod_perl and a bunch of other stuff.  At least with Windows, if I tell it to install Wamp/Xamp to c:\ and the web files are on F:\ it believes me. And I can find the blasted config files.)

ok did some looking for testing and distros or Ubuntu Server seem to be the best free ones to do the testing on what do you think? and hope I don't have the same probs as you have had  Undecided

sounds suspiciously like the start date/time of the YaBB problems.

i think it may have been a bad install or a bad binary compiled.

People tell me Ubuntu is pretty good. (Of course, you can't prove that by my experience.  Wink I followed the directions on their site and it tried to eat my Windows partition.  Shocked )

If you only have one solution to a problem you're not trying hard enough!

I did not compile this myself, this was the package from the Debian repository.

And, if you are going to install a Debian (debian, ubuntu, mint, xbuntu, kubuntu, etc. ad naseum) dont use the Wubi installer method; as someone noted it will eat your Windows partitions. Make a standard dual boot (the Windows bootloader can sideload GRUB these days Smiley )
